OK so Fightstar are definitely safe http://www.teamrock.com/.../why-did-fightstar-lose-their...
"It’s how they see Fightstar continuing: the odd record every few years when all four of them have the time and energy to do it (and are not embroiled in rumours of a Busted reformation either, which Simpson is not talking about). There will be touring treadmill again – just a few shows to support each release – and they will do it as friends.
“Fightstar is almost a passion project for us now – it’s something that we’ll come together and do when we have the time to do it,” says Simpson. “That’s actually really lovely, because it means we’re not under pressure. It means we’re not doing it for anyone else – we’re doing it for us.”"

isn't fightstar that cheesy djent band
|
| |
Nah they're more like Deftones-y post-hardcore.
|
| |
"McBusted"
It doesn't get better than this.
|
| |
this is shit news
|
| |
'The reunion will also come with new music.' - perhaps they'll pull a worldie out of nowhere now that they've matured and grown as musicians ^.^
|
| |
I was pretty shocked when heard the news. It's understandable though now they are all older/married/have kids etc and don't have time to fully commit to touring small venues with Fightstar.
Charlie will do an album with Busted, tour arenas, see how it goes then do Fightstar and album with his brothers. Will already toured with Fightstar anyway and played guitar on a lot of Behind The Devils Back
|
| |
Had Fightstar not just put out a fucking mint album I'd be pissed. But I'm alright with this now. Hopefully it'll be decent at least with Charlie back in the fold.
|
| |
Most Fightstar fans are pissed anyway.
|
| |
Well there goes all the wind out from the sails of the latest Fightstar album. One month in, two tours in, and it's left to drift off into obscurity. Anyone who's a Fightstar fan cannot be pleased about this even if the band is simply becoming a passion project. The timing of this has left a lot to be desired.
|
| |
Wow this is really happening. Lame
|
| |
Well Teal if Charlie did Fightstar because he buckled to fan opinion he'd be selling out for real (I don't believe rejoining Busted is a sellout move), because he'd be releasing below-par Fightstar material that he didn't really feel was right to do at the time, but did anyway because of pressure to do so. That's why Fightstar stopped in 2010. If you do something because others want you to, and not because you want to, then that is selling out.
|
| |
Hey Dats:
Yeah, I agree with that. However, it sure seemed like Charlie was having a blast before and after the release of BTDB. I'd imagine most Fightstar fans like myself are generally more frustrated about the general situation. I personally believe that BTDB is probably Fightstar's strongest release. With that in mind, it's irritating that a band who just released arguably their best material is crawling back into a hole for another two to three years after surfacing for a mere ten months after a five year hiatus.
I guess beggars can't be choosers, but it's hard not to feel a little burned by this.
|
| |
No way. Must be $$$
|
| |
I highly doubt that. Even if Charlie's own career hasn't been successful (it has been, very much so) he's from a rather well-off family so he isn't exactly desperate. Matt and James are more likely to need the money.
|
| |
And if it is a case of Matt and James needing the money, Charlie's probably gonna be doing it as a favour to them.
|
| |
Interesting, will be interesting to see how Charlie balances commitments between Busted and Fightstar.
|
| |
Didn't see this coming, even with all the rumours. It will be interesting to see how he balances his commitments between Busted and Fightstar.
|
| |
I'd rather he focus on Fightstar obviously, but this could be cool. People on Fightstar's Facebook page saying they hope the Busted tour flops are idiots.
|
| |
Massive Fightstar fan here - Can totally understand this and respect it. I caught their London show last month, bought seated tickets for an upstairs balcony because we have disabled in our party, turned up, whole balcony was closed, only standing available. Venue felt half full even downstairs. Amazing show and everything, but I can see the reason it's a passion project now.
|
| |
Yeah same here, I'm not bothered at all by it, as long as it doesn't result in the end fightstar I couldn't care less.
|
| |
never even heard of this band
|
| |
Its all about the money!
Its such an obvious money grab, it wont effect fightstar it will just increase the contents of Charlies wallet so he can buy an extension to his house and buy a couple of retro pinball machines.
|
| |
Party like it's 2002, this band used to be the shit
|
| |
I bumped into James once when Busted were at their zenith and said he was killing music. He couldn't grasp it.
|
| |
im a Fightstar fan and this offends me greatly
|
| |
TBF when Busted were at their peak, they were heading into a more guitar driven pop-rock direction anyway (probably due to Charlie's total lack of interest in pop and Deftones worship) and viewing figures for Pop Idol (as it was back then) were dwindling. Maybe if Busted had continued to maintain their level of success, they would've matured and the X Factor wouldn't've been the success it was.
|
| |
Busted were absolute drivel. 15 year old girls lapped it up though.
Charlie actually achieved a lot once he left, Fightstar have some great material but are nowhere near as commercially successful as Busted. Now he has probably realised as a more mature man, this is a cash cow to be milked.
Will be interesting to see who their audience are in 2016, but I would've respected Charlie more for staying away.
|
| |
i honestly thought he was trying to stay away from Busted
|
| |
Oh jesus not Busted
|
| |
This article makes a good point - he probably just needs a secure 'day job' to support his family and allow him to do his other music, and it's not a bad job to have.

Oh god I thought this band was long dead and buried.
