Song relys too much on the violines which in turn come around a bit gimmicky. Band is going full radio rock it seems, although song titles such as "Happy Song" and "True Friends" make me think the whole album is ment to be ironic.
| |
Did Oli even attempt to write lyrics or did he just sing the most generic lines that regurgitated out of his mouth?
| |
Better than that Happy song.
| |
Bring Meh the Horizon, guys, because it looks like football season is over. I'm all for bands and artists changing up their style, but in BMTH's case, it would seem as if they're altering too much to the point they're becoming kind of unrecognizable. But I don't know, really...
This song was neither good nor mortifying.
| |
Way to base a whole song around it's chorus.
| |
This is ok, but it ultimately makes me yearn for the ketamined-out Oli.
| |
5.2/10
| |
Boring.
Can't wait to see the guitarist from Exotype rave about it and call it the future of music.
| |
WHO WILL LOVE ME NOW??? How much brooding can one person have to do?
| |
Hmm, this is pretty weak and that's coming from someone who thought Happy Song was pretty fun. Lyrics are terrible but the chorus is the worst part and Oli singing like that makes him sound like the most generic metalcore/hard rock vocalist out there.
| |
These lyrics are 2edgy4me.
| |
man this is gonna be a disappointing album, three tracks in a row that just do nothing
| |
I'd have liked this when I was 14.
| |
Horrible lyrics and the synth is cheesy and out of place. I liked Drown but all the other songs do nothing for me. Seems like a mash-up of Three Days Grace and Linkin Park.
| |
All I want is some There is a Hell bmth. how did they just abandon that style
| |
I really don't get this fucking band. They spend years being joked about and being utter crap, but as soon as they do something interesting with Sempiternal they decide fuck it let's go shitty radio rock. This album is a solid 1 so far.
| |
Reminds me of Skillet and that's not a good thing. These are some of the worst generic lyrics from Oli ever. Kind of sad. This belongs back in the early 2000s.
| |
This is seriously awful, and I loved Sempiternal and There Is a Hell
| |
not really digging this, tho i enjoyed drown and throne
| |
Sounds like Skillet. That's not a good comparison.
| |
Jesus christ, this band fell hard
| |
After Drown I hoped the new album could be decent, but everything they released since has been mediocre or worse. Predicting a 2/5 at the most
| |
I don't think this song was too bad, but it has serious problems. It relies on my chorus way too much, and that "true friends stab you in the front" line is really stupid. Overall, it is the weakest song from the singles, but I still have hope that this album will be good.
| |
I don't think the new songs are as bad as everyone seems to, but they don't even come close to Sempiternal, which is a shame. I'm thinking a 3 at this point. Also, it's a bit disappointing after they kept saying Drown wouldn't signify the sound of the next record and it would be heavier than Sempiternal :/
| |
that "true friends stab you in the front" line is not only awful but the way it's placed in the song sounds so off.
| |
It sounds like he ripped all the lyrics right out of seventy times seven by brand new
| |
Eh, this band didn't evolve as good as Flood of Red.
| |
It's almost impossible to believe this is the same band that just released sempiternal a few years back..
| |
maybe dropping the ketamine wasn't such a good idea
| |
Quite mediocre, gets better towards the end.
| |
The music doesn't really go with the lyrics. Worst song so far
| |
I loved old BMTH + Happy Song & Throne but this is just horrid - the main lyric is awful even by BMTH standards as well
| |
Well, I hope this is the 'anti-vist' of a new album. By far the worst single.
| |
Chorus is tight but those lyrics are cringey. Tumblr girls rejoice.
| |
Not their best. Still shows they're retaining some metal elements though with those guitar riffs and the odd scream here and there so they're not going full rock just yet, I'd call it alt. metal for now.
| |
These are standout Mayday lyrics.
| |
horrendous
| |
Could never get into this band, and this doesn't look to sway me either
| |
Song sucks. Would give a ton of money to blackstabbath his wife in the front (kekek)
| |
^ lmao
| |
where are the synths that made sempiternal special?
expected a lot more from jordan, oli can't be saved anyways
| |
I got it. This album is supposed to be a very clever parody of genericore.
| |
if it was then they somehow parodied hard rock instead
| |
Yeah you fucking idiot
| |
This is sad
| |
These guys are truly selling out. Album is looking to be a 2.7/5, and an embarrassing stain on their discography.
| |
Okay, so what if it's going more mainstream? I'm very much enjoying what I have heard so far, and I'm sure many will share my opinion that going mainstream isn't necessarily a bad thing.
| |
Going mainstream isn't a bad thing because they'll remain crap whatever they do.
| |
I wanted to like this song, but it essentially followed the same structure "Throne" did. And the lyrics were mad corny, not what the band has shown they're capable of. This hasn't deterred my interest in "That's The Spirit", but I hope the other songs fare better
| |
sounds like skillet
| |
vocals are mixed so poorly
the autotune is not subtle at all
| |
what the fuck is this shit, what are they even thinking?
| |
Holy shit these lyrics are bad.
| |
"True friends stab you in the front" "What doesn't kill you makes you wish you were dead" Like daaaaaaaaaaaang das shieeeet
| |
lol holy shit. i havent heard anything from this band since suicide season and maybe one song off of one of their newer albums but i didnt think they could get any worse. apparently i was wrong. those lyrics...who would ever write those and be like "yeah these are good ill use it in a song!"
| |
"True friends stab you in the front" is such an awkward line. And it makes for a horrible rhyme. I don't know what Oli was thinking.
| |
seriously sounds like something an angsty 16 year old would write. i am appalled that this song exists and anyone even remotely involved in the creation of this recording should abruptly kill themselves.
| |
due September 11th this year.
album will be the biggest casatrophe of all time
| |
its 2001 all over again.
| |
Hmm, this is pretty weak and that's coming from someone who thought Happy Song was pretty fun. Lyrics are terrible but the chorus is the worst part and Oli singing like that makes him sound like the most generic metalcore/hard rock vocalist out there.
p much this
chorus is awful
| |
it's chile 1973 all over again
| |
I can understand a band changing directions, but they have to do it well. From their earlier works to There is a Hell.../Sempiternal they did so. From those two albums to whatever these songs are? Not so much.
Bands are always derided for going "soft" even if the change is well done (Think Cave In. A lot of people hated the change they made with the Jupiter album, solely because it wasn't metalcore - not that that album isn't widely regarded as their best - it's just a musical change like that gets a lot of hate. I think with BMTH the derision is well deserved.
| |
Oh this is just dreadful.
| |
jesus christ this is terrible. Lyrics sound like they were ripped straight off a parody twitter page.
| |
Tears of laughter
| |
Make that 3 bad singles.
| |
Aside from the bad chorus line that everyone is knocking.. I don't mind this that much.
| |
Has anyone mentioned yet how ridiculous the album title is...
| |
what the actual fuck, though.
| |
I think the album will be a guilty pleasure if there are no missteps as bad as this one. Feeling a solid 2.7/5 for the album but hoping it can get up to a 3.
| |
Lets hope they don't reach Linkin Park's level in a couple years.

"fuck them im actually really pissed because they were just kind of finding a great stride with sempiternal and now this"
I must admit all I really wanted here was a Sempiternal-esque next album from them, but I'm still hopeful that the album will be alright
Drown and Throne are cool, Happy Song and True Friends are lacking but okay..
And yeah, the album title is just.. Bad.
| |
Gotta remember these are just the singles, intended for radio. Rest of the album is, according to Alt. Press, much more varied in structure and sound. Apparently the closing track has a sax solo...looking forward to what the fuck that's gonna sound like
| |
At least we have There is a Hell and Sempiternal if its bleh.. I could listen to Blessed With a Curse for aaaaaages
| |
doesnt matter if this is just a single, any album with a song this bad on it is not going to be good. not saying there couldn't be moments or songs where they dont whore themselves out, but on the whole, this album will be garbage. i guarantee it.
