Oooooo sput is gonna hate this.
In all honesty I actually like what they've put out so far, definitely sounds like something straight off The Hunting Party IMO.
| |
Sounds like a faster, more aggressive 'Drown'. I dig. On another note, I always like the imagery they use in their videos. It's a little less generic than most of the genre, so points for that, too.
| |
Not creative imho but their stuff is pretty damn catchy. This album is going to be both disappointing and a guilty pleasure for me.
| |
I was never a fan of Count Your Blessings, Snide, but this album just isn't going to do for me.
| |
I like the obvious nods to the True Detective opening at the beginning of the video.
the song, however, I have no strong feelings toward either way.
| |
Song's already stuck in my head but it needs a breakdown in it like what tf were dey thinkin bruh
| |
"Everyone needs to hop off Count Your Blessing's dick."
literally no one is on that album's dick
| |
song's not as bad as the last one
| |
wtf
| |
I think they set the bar too high with Drown, but I haven't enjoyed a song of theirs since that one. Album will be a 2/5 for me, probably
| |
You weren't kidding, it really sounds like modern Linkin Park. With that said, this is much better than what those fools are doing. Not a bad song at all tbh
| |
Glad I'm not the only one who got the Linkin Park vibe
| |
not a bad song but not what i want from BMTH at all
| |
wasn't expecting anything at all but terrible song confirmed
| |
such a huge regression
| |
i really dont understand you
| |
this is literally the exact opposite of what they should have done. they were poised tto open up their sound more and experiment some more but instead they went in the other direction and dumbed their sound down and it doesnt even sound that good ugh
| |
I like this a lot. Honestly this band is better at making lighter music. Their heavy stuff has always been cheesy as hell to me.
| |
lol even his vocals sound like Linkin Park wtf
| |
this really does sound like a linkin park song. this is obvious pandering
| |
okay its not bad because of the lack of heaviness first of all
| |
I agree with you Snide. It's not like they were any good at writing heavy riffs in the first place. They had some fun songs but generally their best songs have been their more melodic ones, like Crucify Me, It Never Ends, And the Snakes Start To Sing, etc.. This style of music suits their talents more imo.
| |
But BMTH is heavy fckn death core!
| |
i was wondering why there were so many comments praising this song and then i realized they're all the same guy
| |
Linkin Park.
| |
"When every other post on Facebook is something along the lines of "THEY NEED TO GET HEAVY AGAIN DEATHCORE OR NOTHING" I have to assume that they're riding it hard."
ok literally no one on sputnik is on that album's dick
| |
I agree. Still sounded alright by bmth #hardrawk standards.
| |
Omg this is bad.
| |
this band went from a shitty metalcore band to a shitty radio rock band
Drown was pretty alright though
| |
Happy Song has been growing on me and this really isn't too bad, either. They're absolutely fine tunes as long as I pretend BMTH weren't liable for the tracks' existence; the same can be said for Drown.
| |
Nah it's pretty terrible tbh.
| |
So do they want to be Linkin Park now or...? Someone explain pls
| |
"Everyone needs to hop off Count Your Blessing's dick."
Count your blessings is the worse full-length they've put out thus far by a mile
| |
So fucking bad
| |
they managed to compact every single lyrical cliche into one song... that deserves some credit doesn't it?
| |
Still predicting at least a 3/5 album. Don't care for this song though. The electronic parts aren't working their favor. Rather forgettable, sadly
| |
This is the correct link: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oM-XJD4J36U
| |
heading a little too far in the alt rock direction. would have liked something spacier/ more vibe oriented. this is alright though. and Drown is a terrific song, imo
| |
This is amazing.
| |
This is the opposite of what I wanted from them after Sempiternal.
| |
such a huge regression [2]
yea like happy song is at least catchy and a fun listen this is just garbage, they're going in a worse and worse direction with each single
| |
and after 3 more listens I like the song fucking bravo bmth
| |
This wouldn't bug me so much if 'Of Mice & Men' hadn't already taken on the mantle to be the second coming of 'Linkin Park'. We don't need three bands going down this direction, the original and the replicant is more than enough thanks. That said the song is not bad at all, if this is the future of their sound they do it far better than many out there.
| |
I miss the growls, but get why that's not a thing anymore. Like the other single more still, but seems like this will be a really unoffensive album.
| |
from corporate entity deathcore, to low-fat diet post-2002 In Flames (now available in the dairy aisle)
| |
I feel like I should really hate this, but it's actually a really interesting song. It definitely doesn't have the punch and refreshing taste that Sempiternal had soooooo I'm really mixed on this.
You know what, no. Happy Song is probably the the worst song I've heard all year. I can't forgive that shit.
| |
Happy Song is a lot better than this imo
| |
Album will end up being a 3.5/5 for me at this rate. I like the songs, they're just not as experimental/unique as I'd hoped them to be but they do the style better than OMM. None of these newer songs have topped Drown, but at least that's something to look out for on the album.
| |
"metal band"
| |
New album is gonna be wank
| |
Song is decent. I believe that keyboard sample or whatever it is at the beginning will get super annoying after a few listens though.
| |
Suicide Season was the best album they put out. First album had some cool techy bits but it was awful. rip my br00t days
| |
I cannot fathom how they went from Sempiternal to this. And it seems his voice got worse. Drown isn't even that good, but it's better than these last two shit songs. I was really just hoping for an album that would be half songs like "The House of Wolves" and the other like "And The Snakes Start To Sing" . Oh well. Back to hating this band.
| |
Still a whole bunch of ehhhhhh
| |
weak sauce
| |
as much as i want to not like this, i have to admit that this song and the drown are pretty damn catchy. the other song is shit tho
| |
Wow, I really like the direction these guys are going in, but hope they dont lose the guitars to synth
Is it just me or has Oli been working out
| |
sounds like a Linkin Park song lol...
| |
This is fucking awful
| |
this is disgustingly bad and so was happy song. fuck this band
| |
Oli looks like he finaly ate a sammich
| |
"Everyone needs to hop off Count Your Blessing's dick."
Because that's the album people liked on this site. Yeah, fucking right
| |
Try not to cut yourself on that edge there guys
| |
Don't know how anyone was being edgy but okay
| |
""Everyone needs to hop off Count Your Blessing's dick."

I am a long-time lurker, but I finally took the plunge and signed up to the boards to comment on this. I know CYB gets a lot of hate, but I personally am very fond of this album. Yes, the screaming gets tiring over time, and the lyrics can be extremely amateur, but there is a certain charm to this album that never goes away for me. This is the only album of theirs that they are attempting to shred, and while there is an abundance of breakdowns, there are also solid riffs and solos that are simply absent in their subsequent albums. Oli's lyrics also contain some nice metaphors, such as biblical plagues and Greek mythology. I also love the instrumental, 15 fathoms.
All in all, there are some of us out there who appreciate the album for what it is. Music is music, and I am tired of people being people for bashing this album for no legit reason other than to be part of the trend.
| |
Sempiternal was their best, this sounds like 3 steps back. The butt rawk is strong here.
| |
Are you not entertained?
| |
"I believe that keyboard sample or whatever it is at the beginning will get super annoying after a few listens though."
It was annoying after one listen. Also his vocals are so blatantly auto-tuned on this song.
| |
I didn't expect to dig this so much
| |
damn this is a sick meteora b-side
| |
@Painstation3
well said my friend. also the instrumental slow dance is epic.
| |
"this is disgustingly bad and so was happy song. fuck this band"
Trying to be edgy tho
| |
Wouldn't it be more "edgy" if the band was going from clean vocals to screaming and not the other way around?
| |
I would like this more if Oli was a better singer, but all I hear is poor singing technique and auto tune.
| |
Bring Me (to) The Park? Holy early 00's Batman!
| |
Dont know what to make of this tbh. Or the previous single for that matter. Almost inclined to say theyre both shit but...Happy Song did manage to grow on me a little bit after a few listens, so who knows..Will say though I'm not too big on Oli's vox on this one in particular
| |
what the crikey fuck is going on with this band?? They've been steadily maturing their whole career, and now this.
I mean, it's not the worst song in history, but..... I don't know what to expect of them anymore. I don't think I'm going to be a fan of the new album, judging from what they've put out so far
| |
Song sucks, Linkin Park and their copy cats suck
| |
When he screams it sounds good. When he goes for the pop shit it sounds bad. Why? Sempiternal so damn good.. Whyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy
| |
Why is this so good?
| |
band has always sucked
shut up futures the title track off suicide season is not good
| |
umm ok? who cares about your opinion lol
| |
'shut up futures the title track off suicide season is not good'
You tell him
| |
yeah it really hurt my feelings i want an apology tbh
| |
Every time these guys release an album I really dig it, but after the initial phase of liking it, I never go back to it again. That will likely happen with this too.
I dug this song. Happy Song was pretty cool too. Drown was my least favorite, it just felt so plain.
| |
its embarrassing really
| |
title track on suicide season rules tbh
| |
song would be cool if the lyrics weren't so trite. A+ on the weird imagery though. they've been nailing the visual themes since "there is a hell."
| |
This is seriously awful, band hasn't been good since there is a hell
| |
i dont know what to think or feel about this
disappointed i guess. Was hoping theyd just refine their songwriting skills and make Sempiternal 2.0
| |
This one sounds like sempiternal 2.0 to me. Sounds like something in between Can You Feel My Heart and Go to Hell.
| |
Can You Feel My Heart and Go To Hell had better songwriting than this imo. They were more experimental and the vocals didn't sound as edited. Those two songs also did not remind me of LP in the same way that this and the bridge of Chasing Rainbows do.
| |
Are they trying to get on the game of thrones soundtrack or something?
| |
They have made a radio friendly song that's actually good and bearable to listen. I'm loving this direction.
| |
'actually good' lol not quite
| |
It's not awful tbh, just unbelievably bland
| |
it's pretty catchy
| |
I wonder if they're just going to be a hard rock band now? I don't disagree with them expanding or anything. I just wonder. If I was in a metal band, I would expand the sound over time, but never get rid of all the metal. Not saying that's what they're doing.
| |
gonna need these guys to just put out an album full of Crucify Me's
| |
^ I would be OK with this
| |
the title track off suicide season is not good
sick burn
| |
And I wish bands I used to really like who were going in a good direction would stop regressing and adding a shitload of electronics and cliche angsty 12 year old lyrics it's not cool. Thought the new album would be perfecting that there is a hell / sempiternal but nah. I'm done with this band. Got a couple great songs out of them though. R.I.P.
| |
good song overall
| |
Catchy stuff so far a lot more replay value than most of their stuff pre Sempiternal. This, Drown and Happy Song are all pretty good and memorable. Just hope they don't fuck up Drown with the re-recorded version
| |
