Interesting.... so it's +44 with a different guitar player?
| |
With Skiba involved I'm pretty interested.
| |
matt shiba hell yeah
| |
ugh why
| |
Aggressively don't care
| |
Yeah! Super excited for this! Neighborhoods was an indisputable masterpiece!!
| |
Just release it under the +44 name
| |
Just release it under the +44 name
| |
Just release it under the +44 name
| |
Just release it?! JUST RELEASE IT?! ARE YOU INSANE???!
| |
Just release it under the +44 name
| |
Just release it under the +44 anus
| |
Just release it as the new swans album
| |
You're all insane. Wow.
| |
Might give it a try, dont really like Blink, but I like Skiba
| |
Alkaline-182
| |
I'm excited don't know bout y'all but I'm excited
| |
IM SO GOOD WITH ALKALINE-182 HOLY SHIT
| |
yea this will be great
| |
live videos with Matt are sounding pretty dope - he can actually carry a tune live unlike Tom which will be a nice change
he goes hard in I Miss You
| |
im just happy cuz it means mark will have more time to shine. tom dominated neighborhoods and that was lame cuz mark is great and should sing in more songs. i can't see matt being a diva like tom was.
| |
yeah a 50/50 Mark/Matt split will be fuckin' mint. Mark's songs were best on Neigh by far
| |
dude yea agreed also skiba just rules idc how meh alkaline trio have gotten
| |
they did get super meh though
| |
so did blink but i bet this ends up being excellent
| |
Both bands got pretty tired in their band relations I think but kept going out of habit
mixing it up like this could be just what they needed
| |
Just release it under the Alkaline-182 name
| |
haha yeah nah
| |
Release it under The White Stripes name just to piss Jack White off
| |
I just watched the video for their first show together. Matt seemed entirely uninterested in singing Tom's parts.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dEGAvhKzzrY
| |
Stoked for this... they were a ton of fun live and this has potential for sure.
| |
@Willie bear in mind he had to learn all those songs pretty much on the day so he could hardly be at 100%
some of their more recent shows have been mint
| |
hate this band with a passion
| |
Yeah, but they really turned things around with Neighborhoods
| |
holy shit I Miss You with Skuba Duba is fucking good.
| |
Hopefully this is gonna end up a +44 album. They were good, too bad Blink had to reunite and things ended.
| |
Might listen to this since Matt Skiba is now in the band.
| |
Nah, for better or worse, it's not blink without Tom.
| |
except as you say it might be better so
| |
Nice! Good news. Will likely be better than their last album.
| |
They should drop the name then though, it's not blink without Tom. [2]
| |
This band should just stop. Seriously.
| |
Just release it under the +44 name dammit
| |
TAKE YOUR PANTS OFF
| |
I'll definitely check it out. I'm intrigued.
| |
Dead band
| |
I'm still optimistic as a lifelong fan of this band. It wont be the same but hopefully it's good.
| |
Just release it under the +44 name dammit [2]
| |
blink 1/3*2
| |
How big of a blink fan do you have to be to tell them to change their name without Tom?
| |
not very
| |
Haha, yea, they'll change the name and devalue their earnings dramatically... Blink-182 is a powerful brand, +44 has no weight behind it. They'd be stupid not to continue under blink-182.
| |
I'm not a very big fan (though they were my favorite band, like 15 years ago) and I don't give a shit. There have been tons of bands throughout history with lineup changes as significant as this that didn't change their names. This will be no different.
| |
Boooooo
| |
Just release it under the +44 name
| |
If they release it under +44, they'll push 25,000 records instead of 100,000 records.
| |
People still care about these guys?
Yeah it should just be a +44 album. I mean, now that the tom dude left, arent they basically +44 now? Sorry if im wrong i dont know a lot about blink besides the fact that dammit is a pretty good song
| |
+44 was it's own entity. Mark and the gang not only plan on recording a new record but touring to support it and playing all of blink's back catalog. And, like i mentioned earlier, blink-182 is a strong brand and the difference in potential revenue from releasing this album as blink-182 is infinitely higher than if it's released as a +44 album.
| |
Blink putting out an album sans-tom. What a trip. I'm interested to hear it. Based on the live material I've heard, Matt sounds solid but just didn't have Tom's delivery. I guess that can happen when you're singing someone else songs.
| |
Who cares if they release this as a blink album? Like what JWT said it will do way better financially/ reach more people if they release it as a blink album.
| |
Sweet. Always disliked Tom.
| |
I didn't really care for Tom when blink reunited, but back in the day he was my favorite member.
| |
No one will argue the financial sense behind the decision but that doesn't change that blink-182 has been mark/tom/travis since their beginning in the 90s. With Tom leaving not only are they losing 1/3 of their founding lineup, but their losing the guy who plays guitar, sings most of the songs, does a good chunk of the writing and is the frontman.
Add to that that there already exists a band that is blink minus Tom and it's easy to see why fans are put off by this.
| |
EXCPET Travis wasn't a founding member of the band, Scott Raynor was the drummer for 6 years until 98.
| |
eh as you can see I'm not the biggest blink fan myself. I can still understand why people would react this way to an album without such an important member ESPECIALLY when another band already exist that is blink minus said member
but eh
| |
If +44 had never existed, no one would make the argument that they should release new material as +44 instead of blink-182. Fact of the matter is, they are 2/3 of blink and they help build the brand, so why shouldn't they get the exposure and sales that go along with the name just because Tom is a twat waffle? He doesn't want anything to do with them anyway.
| |
The issue is what does the band want as their identity. +44 was separate from blink-182 and they played only +44 material. Mark and Travis have expressed that not only do they want to make new music, but they want to tour playing blink-182 songs, they clearly want this to be an extension of blink-182, not yet another new band with it's own identity.
| |
BAM^^^^ Exactly.
| |
Just release it under the Blink-183 moniker
| |
Fuck Tom DeLonge and his annoying whiny vox, I can't listen to a lot of their songs because of him. This could be interesting.
| |
Matt is so much better than Tom ever was.
| |
agrede
| |
Tom came up with some of the most iconic riffs and choruses in the band, he was shit live but he was a pivotal part of the band and their success. I'm excited to see what they have in store but don't write the guy off.
| |
"Interesting.... so it's +44 with a different guitar player?"
more like a sick fucking Alk3 album with Travis Barker
| |
Just release it god damn it!
| |
They kinda have to ummm record it first.
| |
You kinda ummm have to read the previous posts
| |
"more like a sick fucking Alk3 album with Travis Barker"
now Alk3 just isn't Alk3 without Andriano and that's a fact
is it too much to accept that this is just a new stage in their lives, or
| |
Both bands had something the other band needed...alkaline trio had a more mature punk sorta vibe, while blink 182 had way more energy...i think with elements from both bands combined, this could actually be great
| |
I can accept the change and I can understand why they would keep the name of the biggest money-maker of the three bands (+44, Alkaline Trio, Blink-182). Personally, Mark was my favorite vocalist of the two anyway and +44 was way better than Angels & Airwaves. Plus, Mark and Travis aren't batshit crazy.
