The Black Eyed Peas debut new video

2015-07-18 by trackbytrackreviews | 36 Comments
Hip-hop/pop outfit The Black Eyed Peas have released a new song entitled 'Yesterday' to commemorate the 20th anniversary of their debut. The track is made up of samples of hip-hop songs spawning the 80's-00's era.

The song, like previous new releases, does not feature Fergie in it, leaving her membership in the group unknown.

I'm pretty sure by now that I'm the only person in the world to think that Fergie didn't destroy anything bout BEP. She rather saved some of the crap they've done in the last decade or so. So them without her is borderline boring, even if they at least dropped the horrible dance crap.

if these guys actually went for more of a hardcore hip hop approach they could maybe do something decent

I'm...actually happy with this. If they really bring their old actual posse-style back, I couldn't ask for more. Song is a bit of forced nostalgia, sure, but I think it's executed okay. Also, Taboo and Apl get more than 15 seconds? Thank you.

Whoa. That was surprisingly good. The nostalgia gets cringeworthy in certain instances, but aside from that, this song really wasn't too bad; a lack of Fergie might've had something to do with it? I dunno. Homies over hoes.

Rhymes bad, nostalgia gets a little overbearing - but shit that was actually pretty fun.

A fun thing is to remind people that Will.i.ams first record deal was a deal with Ruthless records, and his first official appearance on printed media was a song with Eazy-E in 1992.

Yes, Will managed to singlehandedly destroy a shitload of street-cred over the course of his career. Fun!

much better than the other tracks they're known for, liked the little segues into the classic hip-hop beats. Lyrically it's not up to much though- although definitely not as awful as I was expecting it to be
