Interesting.
I'll check this out.
| |
if it's anything like Benji then he's a good piece of shit and i like him
| |
This is incredible. My first experience with anything Kozelek has done and damn, i'm hooked.
| |
Forgot this was coming out soon - pretty stoked
| |
I wasn't too keen on Benji but dang another one so soon? I'll check.
| |
I really want to like this, and it's not bad, just not my cup o' tea.
| |
^That's how I feel about this artist in general
| |
i mean it's been over a year, that's pretty standard
I dunno, "standard" for everyone else seems to be about 1 album every 2 years avg., at best, but that's more for bands that don't tour as much. For the rest an album every three years is a pretty good schedule.
| |
it's usually due to the touring cycle
| |
"this new stuff is no where near as accessible as his early work"
^Maybe this is why I am having trouble with his latest work. Benji didn't click for me and on first listen, I am having similar feelings about this.
| |
touring cycle and there's probably more fancy in-studio stuff that can be done to make the process take longer. Bands like AC/DC put one out every two years because their music was super simple and probably took like two days to record.
| |
I usually take it that the band put more time into the writing process.
| |
this guy can piss off
| |
^He shouldn't have said the whole "The War on Drugs play music for beer commercials".
| |
I'm happy he did : )
| |
lolol him calling out the war on drugs is great.
This isn’t accessible? Idk, I expected pussy folk shit I would’ve loved my freshman year of college, but songs like Little Rascals and With a Sort of Grace... Well I don’t know what they are but his album is way more than some shallow folk songs
| |
listened to the first 2 minutes of With a Sort of Grace I Walked to the Bathroom to Cry and turned it off. it was getting really grating
| |
Album is fucking badass and has some real muscle. My favorite changes every time I listen to it. First time I heard Little Rascals I thought it was kinda filler-ish, now I love it. Sign of a good album that is full of depth. I love where he is pushing his career. The end of "Today's my first day..." is amazing.
| |
I think his fast-vocal style (almost rap like) works best with With a Sort of Grace and Cry me a River. There are some awesome lines in those that are just biting and wonderfully delivered.
| |
What's that about Kozelek and RTJ? First time I'm hearing about it.
| |
they took the piss out of each other for fun doing a festival, El-P loves Kozeleks music
| |
YES
| |
Oh, cool. Thought it was yet another one of those "controversies" everyone on the internet keeps going on about.
| |
'I really want to like this, and it's not bad, just not my cup o' tea.'
That's exactly what I thought of Benji
| |
Stoked to give this a listen. I liked Benji but I never got hooked on it like I did with Ghosts of the Great Highway and Admiral Fell Promises.
| |
Dunno, I really dunno.
| |
he sounds like he was on drugs lmao
| |
@CaptainDooRight yes, but no it doesn't
