Korn vs Type 1 Diabetes

2014-12-17 by DatsNotDaMetulz | 47 Comments
Korn have released a new song to help raise funds for JDRF, to fight type 1 diabetes.

The track, 'So Unfair', highlights the struggle of Jonathan Davis's own son, Zeppelin, who suffers from the
condition and is available for a limited time. Donators will also have the chance to fly to Bakersfield, CA with a
friend and help Davis write and record a song in his private recording studio.

Hey, Type 1 ain't so bad. You get free prescriptions for life, priority GP visits & flu jabs, and you get to look badass by injecting
yourself in public.

...nonetheless, a cool thing for Korn to do. Thanks guys!

How fucked up do you have to be to give your own kids the names "Zeppelin" and "Pirate"

I have a friend with type 1 diabetes who's a long distance runner. He told me that his running lowers the consumption of insulin.

He's not sure whether this could be a general trend, as he is not aware of any other long distance runner with type 1 diabetes.

Any exercise lowers the consumption of insulin, because it naturally burns carbohydrates. Times where I've been working out heavily, I've had to lower both my lantus, and insulin which regulates you 24/7, and my novolog, an insulin that brings you down instantly after a meal or when your blood sugar is high. It's not an exact science since you can't tell how many carbs are actually getting to your bloodstream until a few hours later.

I have type 1 diabetes, and I also must say that I have fortunately had the financial means to take pretty damned good care of myself
over the years. But many people are not able to do so, and so it is a more unfortunate condition for them than it is for me.

I'm not much a fan of the band, but I like that they're doing this for my people

Ironic how you have In Flames in your name, a band whose front-man really likes KoRn.
You should be more respectful.

I pledged $10, they gave me a preview of the song and it sounded pretty good. Hopefully they'll be able to make a dent in trying to fight this disease from these donations. I grew up listening to Korn, and while I only jam them once in a while anymore, I still like them and wanted to help in whatever small way I could.

It's not an exact science since you can't tell how many carbs are actually getting to your bloodstream until a few hours later.

I get that, but the thing is people that become aware they have type 1 diabetes, stop doing any work outs, because they think it's no good at all.

My friend was a semi-pro basketball player and when he found out, he stopped working out for a few years and then picked up long distance running, after his wife and his brother encouraged him to do so.
