Intervals split with vocalist

2014-11-25 by Gameofmetal EMERITUS | 30 Comments
Progressive metal band Intervals have parted ways with vocalist Mike Semesky. Semesky, after having debuted on the band's first full length record A Voice Within after their earlier
instrumental EP releases, has reportedly left on amicable terms. The band will be holding an audition process to find a new front man.

Below is the link to the band's Facebook page to view both the entire statement and details about the audition process if you happen to be interested in trying out:

Fair enough, he was a good vocalist but never really felt he fit the style.

Yes they did but only on their full length. The eps were instrumental

So, it sounds like Mike was let go because he didn't want to tour full-time. Bummer. He's such an incredible singer and A Voice Within was fantastic. He really needs a steady band (I know he's in Raunchy, but they don't tour much anymore as well) The only guy I can think of that could replace him is Ashe O'Hara. That would be insane.

But I guess Daniel Thompkins will get the job since he's in every band that sounds like this :P

I mean it might be an unknown since anyone can audition.

Also they seem to be pretty open to allowing screams into the vocal performance which would be cool.

Well my interest in this band is gone. Their full length was probably my favorite album this year. Never cared for their other material too much.

Wow revelation. Ashe would be perfect for this band.

Hopefully they base the next album less around the vocals.

TBH Semesky's vocals were waaaaaay better with HAARP Machine. The Voice Within's vocals make him sound like a much more refined M. Shadows, which isn't saying much.

"saw this fag live. he has the gayyyyest stage presence ever. seriously, dude tries way too heard to give a good show instead of just being natural about it. he's always gyrating or flailing about like a sloppy fish"

Allstar Cunt comments #1: talk shit about a vocalist for TRYING to put on a good show

What a shame! Semsky is one of the best vocalists in the game right now and A Voice Within is one of better albums of this year. This guy is definitely involved in some great projects, but he needs to settle down and commit.

lol no dude. you had to be there trust me

in that video he's more chill, which is perfectly fine let the vocals speak for themselves, except you can't really hear him, which was sorta the problem when I saw him live, so maybe he was trying to compensate idk

Idk it just seems really petty and cruel and odd to diss someone for trying (but sorta failing) to put on a good show.

A for effort dawg

I'm gonna guess that Chris Barretto will be their next vocalist.

Their previous instrumental stuff was boring to me.

Well fuck...

I actually enjoyed their full length with Mike, I don't really get the reason why A Voice Within gets a lot of hate. Otherwise hope they find a fitting vocalist if they don't and they're just going to go Instrumental again that's fine by my standards.

"Had no idea he was the guy in HAARP, if thats the case I much preferred his vocals with them"

Yeah, it was much more vocally diverse and better melodies. On The Voice Within it sounds rather generic and tacked on. Plus it has none of the jazz influence that the music and guitar solos do which is kind of a shame.

Nothing on this album comes close to touching Disclosure and Pleiadian Keys.

Both A Voice Within and Disclosure are masterful albums in my opinion.
