bretty gool sang
That intro is a mix of Dream House and The Pecan Tree.
The song is pretty good, but it sounds so much like every other song on Sunbather. However, the vocals are really enjoyable on this, and there is a sweet climax in the middle.
Was this the one that they played in that live video? It sounds a lot better on the recording
song is great. Vox sound amazing
yeah, studio version of this rules, much better than the earlier recording sounded. I love the middle section
I'm surprised there are fewer comments here.
Digging: Timbre - Sun & Moon
Not a huge departure from the Sunbather sound, but a pretty sweet song on its own merits
Really into this.
live version reaction : deafheaven sux, never liked them anyway....
studio version reaction : dam 5/5
Digging: Beach Pneumatic - Beach Pneumatic
The live version was pretty awesome to me. You have to take into account the production control they have in the studio as opposed to live performance, especially in the vocal department. Overall, an excellent performance.
Digging: Irrwisch - Irrwisch
Vox are actually good on this. Not sure how I feel about this band. I like something about them but can't fully get into it.
Woah, the section starting just after 1:40 is gnarly. They should do more of that.
Actually like this. It sounds like something off of Sunbather but more polished and a little bit more metal. The guitars sounds more pronounced which works in the song's favour.
I really like how they layered in the deep vocals too. I'm really excited to hear what this band does in the future, but I thought Sunbather was classic
sounds like sunbather but a little heavier
Digging: Silverstein - I Am Alive In Everything I Touch
This is sweet. I guess I should probably listen to sunbather huh
That one riff a couple minutes in was decent, but it was still boring as a whole
good song, i like it.
lol'd at the comment there that said he sounds like donald duck
Digging: Blur - Parklife
So the consensus is that this band sucks live?
Love the heavier sound they're going for on this. Not a huge departure from Sunbather, but still a great sound to my ears.
So the consensus is that this band sucks live?
Nah, I heard they were incredible live, but the video they posted of this song being played live was kind of bad.
not really i saw them live and i enjoyed it alot many around me did not however so to each his own. oh and song is pretty sweet
I saw them live in Tampa recently and it was amazing, though they have some awful fans.
Song is sick, that riffing at 1:45 sounds like it was ripped out of a Dark Tranquillty song.
Digging: Envy - Atheist?s Cornea
yeah i saw them with pallbearer at the end of june and they sounded very good that night. i think its obvious from that live vid that there was something very wrong with the mix. kerry looked confused and you could barely hear his guitar work. then when you could it sounded like mud.
Digging: Froya - Panic Bird
wow it has actual riffs
hm. i liked it overall. its actually a bit more different from sunbather than i expected. some chugga-chugga riffs, the guitar solo and the clean vocals at the end
The vocals on Sunbather were pretty much a nonentity, but they make the song in certain places on this. It's great.
Digging: Turnover - Peripheral Vision
I really liked Sunbather and I feel this is a step in the right direction for them but this song didn't really do much for me
Fucking love the vocals on this one.
Digging: Gustavo Cerati - Bocanada
not a big fan of these guys but this is surprisingly good
Used to cringe at this band b/c of the vocals, but this is damn sweet.
Not a huge fan of this vocal style so I'm not sure how I feel about them actually being so stand out in mix. Love the music though, sounds close to the Sunbather sound, which I'm totally okay with.
Between The Deafheaven and Me
why does this sound like suicide silence
You should get your ears checked.
I love the ending. Sounds awesome.
for when "out of the frying pan and into the fire" just won't work for your bm song title
but honestly i liked the song
Enjoyed this albeit sounding incredibly similar to Sunbather material, though the heavier section was surprisingly satisfying. As much as the hipsters love this band and the proto-hipsters love to hate on them, I think they're a strong upcoming act and stoked to hear their next endeavor.
just as shitty as sunbather
the vocals have improved with this one
These guys slay live, but they are a small venue act. Large stages and whatnot just don't work for them.
Song is fantastic. The missing link between RTJ and Sunbather. Can't wait for the free download Monday
Digging: Blur - The Magic Whip
song is rly good, sounds rly different from everything they've done, vocals are great and and that part from 2:50 is perfect
I LIKE SUNBATHER I'M SUCH A POSER LOL
Digging: Converge - Jane Doe
i like sunbather too guess i fail
Legit as hell
It seems a little more digestible for non black metal fans. More variety too and the vocals seem less black metal, more straight high scream. Less screechy rasp.
I liked sunbather, but this is the best song I've heard from them so far
I love this band, I play constantly sunbather to annoy lame kids with shitty corpse paint
whatever guys i just really fucking enjoy this shit leave me alone
this is sooo fantastic. the vox are like infinitely better than in the live version
Digging: Steve Von Till - A Life Unto Itself
They used to give me a headache but they are really starting to grow on me!!
Didn't like Sunbather but this is pretty sweet
Digging: Carlos Cipa - All Your Life You Walk
That live video mix was god awful. I was actually at p4k fest when I saw them and the live mix was great, not amazing though. But the video mix was repulsive.
Digging: Sheer Mag - Sheer Mag II
Agreed grizzly, they shouldn't have even released those videos with audio that horrible.
Makes the studio track sound that much better, though.
I feel like Deafheaven would be much better if they incorporated meatier riffs into their music instead of doing so much of this blendy shit.
Not at all they blend genres pretty well meatier riffs would be awkward here
I meant how they "blend" the guitars - don't know how to describe it. It can be used tastefully but I think that many blackgaze bands overdo this. It's like there aren't riffs or something, just blendy shit.
Love how clear the drums come through.
This is great, about on par with what was on Sunbather
Oh yeah, I remember this being pretty cool
