Finch album release
2014-07-31 by Trey Spencer STAFF | 28 Comments
Finch will be releasing their first album in nine years, Back to Oblivion, on September 29th.

Hailing from Temecula, California, former Drive-Thru favourites released the seminal album What It Is To Burn in 2002 which spawned the UK Top 40 hit “Letters To You”.

Following on from that Say Hello To Sunshine came out in 2005 before the band went on a hiatus in early 2006. The band most recently toured the UK in 2013 for their 10 year anniversary tour of WIITB and played a sold out show at Brixton Academy!

The band comprises of Nate Barcalow (vocals), Alex Linares (guitar), Randy Strohmeyer (guitar), Daniel Wonacott (bass) and Alex Pappas (drums)

First Anacrusis, then At the Gates, followed by Lagwagon and now this... the best is definitely still yet to come.

Same here. I'm thinking it will be more like the Epilogue EP -- kind of a 75% WIITB and 25% SHTS kind of thing.

"i really hope it's closer to SHTS than WIITB"

it won't be, they've said in interviews they pretty much forced themselves to write SHTS for validations sake.

specifically this comment is what i'm talking about:

I think one thing we’ve learned from playing all these What It Is To Burn songs is there’s a certain energy to the songs that are simple and straightforward. That may be something we didn’t capture on Say Hello To Sunshine. We were so involved with proving to ourselves, and maybe to our peers, that we could write something that wasn’t just pop. We could write complex arrangements and do fucked-up rhythms and do some crazy stuff. I think it was a good record for us to do; it got that out of our system.

Well, that's the same one I read, but I interpret that totally differently than you did. Sounds more like they wanted to push their limits and write something more intricate.

If it's anything like the demos from the scrapped World Of Violence album they were working on before the last split up, it'll be a mix of both. I really don't want WIITB 2, that would suck hard

I loved WISTB so I'm happy with whatever.. I think every Finch thread like this thus far has had a lot of WISTB vs SHTS debating
