Sigh, greedy bastard is delaying new material.

The 10+ minute track sounds neat enough from Danny's descriptions.

|
| |
they do whatever possible not to release this album
|

I can't wait until Tool goes back to boring me with their music instead of these non-stories about delays.
|
| |
Hahahaha. Everyone knew it was coming.
|
| |
*no Tool confirmed for 2014.
How do you NOT get permission for an album cover?
|
| |
lol
|
| |
wut
|
| |
Pretty sure it was a lawsuit that caused the delay between Aenima and Lateralus, no surprise here
|
| |
tools probably making this whole thing up to buy time. they're actually known to pull shit like that so I wouldn't be surprised hahaha

| |

Yeah. What artwork? All of their art since Aenima has been done by Alex Grey.
And did they really say they only have one song finished? Get the hell out of here.
|
| |
Yay more delays... not surprising though.
|
| |
Sweet a Tool article. Can't wait to see the 1000+ comments.
|
| |
What is Tool?
|
| |
I think it's a rap group or a type of soup or some shit.
|
| |
Album better be worth it.
Prolly wont be though.
|
| |
Tool soup lol
|
| |
Overrated band, let's hope that their new album is something good.
|
| |
Tool Soup is the title of the upcoming compilation.
|
| |
This news is sad. Tool does whatever they can to punish their fans. Just when you get kinda hyped for a new Tool album this year, you read this shit.
tool confirmed for 2024 [2]
|
| |
Since when does this site care about rap groups?
|
| |
Since when does this site care about rap groups???
|
| |
Corporate Rock
|
| |
Confirmed for the year of never.
|
| |
Artist is Cam De Leon who did the original wrench logo and the artwork on Aenima and Salival. He sued them in 2005, which means this has been ongoing for most of a decade...
|
| |
Since when did this site care about soup???
|
| |
I still don't get how a lawsuit about a logo prevents them from writing songs?
|
| |
"Since when did this site care about soup???"
I swear I thought about posting the same comment.
|
| |
"Artist is Cam De Leon who did the original wrench logo and the artwork on Aenima and Salival. He sued them in 2005, which means this has been ongoing for most of a decade..."
Really? I thought that dude was good friends with Tool? They promote his art on their website all the damn time. What a dick haha
|
| |
oh damn
|
| |
"he's a tool tool"
ahhahahahahaha
|
| |
"Tool have recently revealed a lawsuit over artwork that an associate guitarist had created but claims was not given credit for. Also, an insurance company hired
by Tool themselves have filed a suit against the band due “technicalities regarding the case."
seriously tho. learn some fucking english damn
|
| |
Hopefully scientists discover means to allow people to live to 250yrs because I would like to hear a new Tool album someday
|
| |
lol [123]
|
| |
hahaha this is too funny
|
| |
this is the real life musical equivalent of the breaking bad fly episode
except they're just waiting for the fly to die of its own accord
|
| |
"nsa prolly got it doe"
yeah where's Snowden when ya need him
|
| |
lol
|
| |
And then they'll lose the suit, and the album will be delayed to 2017.
|
| |
tool confirmed for 2024 (3)
|
| |
Why 2024?
|
| |
because it's far away from now
|
| |
Why that exact year tho
|
| |
because it's really far
|
| |
Lol anyone who thinks this band is overrated is not a musician
|
| |
im a musician and i think this band is overrated
|
| |
Tool lawsuit delays delay on new album
|
| |
Then you aren't a very knowledgeable musician
|
| |
wait i have to be a musician to think this music sucks? :/
|
| |
ive been studying music since i was 7 so id say im pretty comfortable on the subject
point is, judging a band by their musicianship has nothing to do with their music, which i think is overrated
|
| |
HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA LOL @ TOOL FANS
|
| |
How are they overrated if the only things anyone ever talks about them is them being overrated?
Aenima and Lateralus were very unique and creative albums for their time and 10,000 days was just a
cool concept album that was produced very well...They're simply very talented people in general who
make very enjoyable music. I don't consider them Gods or really "the best" at anything, I'm just glad
they're among us
|
| |
"How are they overrated if the only things anyone ever talks about them is them being overrated?"
that's not really true tho is it
|
| |
becauase they make boring music for pimply virgins trying out for the high school wrestling team
|
| |
Wrestling?
|
| |
bad band yea

|
| |
What the fuck? Seriously. One of the highest rated bands of all time and the greedy, rich little shits still can't help but try to make even MORE money.
|
| |
You know what the funny part is?
|
| |
It's sad how unphased I am by this article.
|
| |
band sucks who cares
|
| |
The tools have come out of the sheds.
|
| |
^this guy knows...maybe the whole point of Tool is to expose all the tools out there
|
| |

|

"band sucks who cares
Digging: Emmure - Eternal Enemies"
I also found this to be really funny

"band sucks who cares
Digging: Emmure - Eternal Enemies"
I also found this to be really funny
|
| |
Yeah i double posted that because of how funny it was
|
| |
That was quite possibly the least funny thing I've read in weeks
|
| |
maybe not
|

^this guy knows...maybe the whole point of Tool is to expose all the tools out there

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dWVaDxMTBEU
|
| |
You're right CK, I should've automatically known from all the comments on here that Tool and Emmure are on the exact opposite end of the talent spectrum...Tool being on the low end
|
| |
non-medy

rich evans has the voice of an angel
|

rich evans is an angel
|

Fucking hell
|

For the people who only read the comments, here's the only part of the article that really matters...
"As for the lawsuit Tool are currently dealing with, Jones goes into serious detail. “The fans are pissed at us,” Jones begins. “And while part of me is selfish and goes, ‘I’m not necessarily doing it for them,’ it’s time that they understand what’s going on.”
Back in 2007, an associate of the guitarist claimed that Tool had used his artwork without giving due credit. The lawsuit filed from this incident became compounded when an insurance company Tool hired for the band’s defense also ended up filing a suit against Tool over “technicalities regarding the case.” Seven years later, Tool still find themselves wrapped up in litigation with the insurance company, with the case set to go to trial in January.
“It’s costing millions and millions and millions of dollars to defend us,” Jones explains. “And the fans are all going, ‘We want a new Tool album. What the f—?’ And you don’t want to pull people into your problems, because they don’t understand. But the point is, we’re fighting the good fight. We’re going to trial and we want to crush them. But every time we’ve gotten close to going to trial, it gets postponed and we’ve wasted money and time and it has just drained our creative energy. We bought an insurance policy for peace of mind, but instead we would have been better off if we never had it and just dealt with the original lawsuit.”

The more I listen to Tool - and this album in particular - the more they seem less like an 'intelligent' band and more like a band that seems 'intelligent' to people of average intelligence. I'm not saying that to put anybody down -- I like plenty of dumb as shit music, and it's no secret that I'm not exactly a Rocket Surgeon. But the whole Tool package, with its unnecessary and ineffectual little musical changes every few seconds, the unceasingly 'serious' mood tied to simplistic riffs, the lyrics that tackle insightful issues in a hamfisted high school philosophy manner - man, I'm dumb as shit and even I'm not dumb enough to fall for this. It just reeks of 'the uncreative preaching to the easily impressed.' And maybe they're smarter than Soundgarden or Britney Spears or something, but how much is that really saying?
|
| |
I'm pretty sure Maynard can be a bit pretentious at times but come on.
Did you really need a new account just to post that?
|
| |
You do realise its just an old copy-paste
|
| |
I've never seen that before.
|
| |

I see your point. But what really got me into Tool were the lyrics, beyond that, this band really doesn't have much to show. Maybe they are just pretending to be smart; but at least they do a good job of it.
|
| |
"beyond that, this band really doesn't have much to show."
the riffs
the drumming
the Maynard
the basslines
|

Intentional double post?
|
| |
"the riffs
the drumming
the Maynard
the basslines"
All of them are good, they fit the songs well and serve their purpose; but they don't jump out at me or grab my attention. I need to really listen to them to appreciate all they are.
|
| |
And no, the page took forever to refresh so I didn't notice.
|
| |
it's like the year 2000 all over again
[edited]: it's like the year 1998 all over again
|
| |
Nah, because 5 years is a lot less than 8.
|
| |
"unnecessary and ineffectual little musical changes every few seconds" ... You mean time signatures?
Or fills? And that's part of music? Lol
"the unceasingly 'serious' mood tied to simplistic riffs" -- There's more to music than a riff...and
which riffs did you find so serious? Lol
"the lyrics that tackle insightful issues in a hamfisted high school philosophy manner" -- What does
that even mean? You imply they are pseudo-intellectual yet claim they are insightful? I think you
just can't accept that they make you think.
"man, I'm dumb as shit " -- Yes.
"It just reeks of 'the uncreative preaching to the easily impressed.'" -- Sounds like you are bitter
about the satisfaction others obtain from their music because you yourself do not understand it.
"man, I'm dumb as shit " -- Yes.
|
| |
2017 maybe i'll have my copy
|
| |
So bad on the fans, jokes aside.
|
| |
"the riffs
the drumming
the Maynard
the basslines"
The riffs are really nothing special, they fit well for the type of music with good use of effects but there is nothing technical about them. As for the Maynard from variety of live clips I've seen I really think his voice is a shadow of what it used to be.
I used to love the band but now they shit me. Honestly 10,000 days was half filler, the rest was mostly average and not worth the wait. Also why are people getting excited for the ten minute song that “goes through lots of changes and it’s got really heavy elements?” so bloody what THEY HAVE A STACK OF THEM ALREADY!
|
| |
"The more I listen to Tool - and this album in particular - the more they seem less like an 'intelligent' band and more like a band that seems 'intelligent' to people of average intelligence. "
so. fucking. hard
|
| |
ya but also who cares mo my man i agree but , still rules imo
|
| |
they rule for sure. I just realized that a long time ago, it's nice to read
|
| |
o gotcha [2]
|
| |
yeah 10,000 Days was pretty underwhelming
|
| |
10,000 days is prob my favourite. Mainly because there isn't as much angsty riffs/shouting. All the filler i can think off is lipan
conjuring, lost keys and viginti tres which I also really like the mood they set. My only problem with the album is the track transitions
aren't so smooth in the middle.
|
| |
maybe we'll hear it by 2045. Fingers crossed
|
| |
comebacks are not needed
|
| |
and the fans appreciate that No we don't. Just release the damn album. If it's as good as 10,000 Days, which was pretty damn good, it's not worth the decennia of waiting.
|
| |
they have maybe one song written, which is 10 minutes so that's sweet
but yea there's nothing to release yet man
|
| |
There's no way a new album will be out before the end of this year. They've been talking news for like 2 years now?
|
| |
