In the wake of Death Grips' abrupt breakup and subsequent cancellation of shows, Nine Inch Nails and Soundgarden have found three opening acts to play different legs
of their upcoming North American tour, a 20th-anniversary celebration of The Downward Spiral and Superunknown.
Electronic musician Oneohtrix Point Never will provide support for the first two weeks, spanning from Nevada to Massachusetts. The following two weeks, mostly covering
the South will feature mathcore superstars The Dillinger Escape Plan in the first slot. Finally, synth pop act Cold Cave will open shows on the West Coast.
Dates with Oneohtrix Point Never:
7/19-Las Vegas, NV
721 & 7/22-Morrison, CO
7/24-Tinley Park, IL
Dates with The Dillinger Escape Plan:
8/5-Virginia Beach, VA
8/10-West Palm Beach, FL
8/16-The Woodlands, TX
Dates with Cold Cave:
8/21-Chula Vista, CA
8/24-Mountain View, CA
8/25-Los Angeles, CA
Marius Budu: I have to say that COLD CAVE was a very disappointing choice for an opening act. I saw you guys in Copenhagen and their act was sub-par (to be polite about it). You guys are a creative force to be reckoned with and having someone like that open for you kind of lowers the bar.
Just my two cents...
Your set was absolutely pure fucking magic (as always) and I love the new album.

I feel like these are just as out of place, except for TDEP.
No, TDEP are totally out of place too. Death Grips and NIN kind of works, although they would leave a lot of Soundgarden fans confused. Dillinger are gonna leave a lot of people cold just by having harsh vocals as much as anything.
