Blacky quits Voivod

2014-07-11 by Voivod STAFF | 22 Comments
Long time Voivod bassist Jean-Yves Thériault (aka Blacky), has parted ways with the band. According to the French-Canadian blog Boulevard Brutal, Blacky hasn't communicated with
the band in over a month.

The reasons regarding Blacky's departure from Voivod are as yet unclarified.

UPDATE:

Regarding Blacky's departure, a formal statement has been released by the band:

It saddens us to announce that Voivod will no longer be performing live with Blacky. Jean-Yves has decided to leave the band for his own personal reasons. We wish him all the best. Voivod will carry on.

One of the greatest bassists in metal. His basework on Target Earth is incredible.

If Blacky's departure is final, Voivod should bring Eric Forrester back to the fold.

Imagine he and Snake taking turns in singing Voivod material? Sick...

Éric Forrest would be a badass replacement. They've done shows with him and Snake before...
