United Nations stream album

Geoff Rickly's experimental punk supergroup United Nations are currently streaming their sophomore effort, The Next Four Years, via Pitchfork's Advance streaming service.

The album is the first new release for the band since the extremely limited Illegal UN cassettes released last year, and first official release since 2010's Never Mind
the Bombings, Here's Your Six Figures
.

This album is pretty good. I would like to hear a higher quality stream though. I hope that it's not just the mastering. Am I the only one hearing a really obvious Deafheaven influence here?

I think it just evidences how much Deafheaven's sound really lines up with skramz; if every band who put scorched screams and melodic guitar lines over fast beats and cymbal crashing is influenced by Deafheaven then you can bet Kerry McCoy is a time traveler.

You mean that Deafheaven is influenced by skramz?

dimsim3478

I don't think they're influenced by skramz as much as they just coincidentally sound like skramz. When you think about what they're doing with black metal, there are obvious correlations in the instrumentation (vocals, guitars, drums), but it's characteristically still black metal.
