Took me a moment to get the title, and then the pain set in.
Either way, American Idiot was an important album for me - and jeez, what a horrific selection of groups. The fact that 5 Seconds of Summer would even count as a band to be on Kerrang! shows the demographic they're aiming for nowadays.

Wait, Kerrang! is still around? Now I know why I stopped to take them as serious "UK-based rock" long time ago...

The Defiled are good and sometimes do good covers. Their rendition of Metallica's The Unforgiven was pretty sweet. I don't care for the rest.

[3] Haven't heard of half these bands but the other half are pretty wretched, and I was never that crazy about AI, but covering it, and with these bands, sounds like the most unnecessary and laughable idea in music I've heard in quite a while

If there's one thing you can credit The Defiled with, it's that unlike many bands who just do a straight up copy, they always try to mix things up and add their own unique spin on a song when they cover it. In cases like "The Unforgiven" by Metallica, it pays off really well. In this case it didn't. Still at least they try.

I would like to state here that Kerrang! are in no way an accurate reflection of most of the UK, and that they are making me ashamed to be English right now.

I think Kerrang are just trying to do their job. There are plenty of bands that are in the same spectrum as 5 seconds of summer like you me at six, All time low, Forever the sickest kids, bands that are heavily pop based but are pretty much "accepted" by Kerrang audiences. So the only reason we all assume we must hate this band is because of their following and association with One direction.

Kerrang are just trying to make other bands they like sell also. Now lots teeny bopper guys/gals are going to buy Kerrang but i just hope that kerrang evolves them and that kerrang doesn't change to suit these new fangirl audiences but so far this is going to be a good thing rock music has a chance of taking over the airwaves. We won't let these annoying fans of 5 seconds of summer take over the scene, the scene will change them for the better.

This is a good exciting thing. Be open minded and accepting for once.
