2014-04-18 by Jamie | 36 Comments
Several weeks after lead singer Tim Lambesis' conviction for solicitation of murder, members
of the metalcore outfit As I Lay Dying have finally broken the silence and revealed their
plans to continue making music under a new name: Wovenwar.

The band features members Jordan Macino on drums, Nick Hipa on lead guitar, Phil Sgrosso on rhythm guitar, Josh Gilbert on bass and Shane Blay on vocals (previously of Oh, Sleeper).

Wovenwar is signed to Metal Blade Records.

You can check out a teaser for Wovenwar right here:

"Shane Blay on vocals (previously of Oh, Sleeper). "
He's still in the band. This is just a side project for him.

Hype level: moderate, could be interesting. Oh, Sleeper is a far better band than AILD though.

not previously, he announced that he's staying with Oh, Sleeper. He's just going to be in both bands.

Yeah wish we could get more of a teaser. Good for these dudes though, they definetly don't deserve to have their careers ruined cause Lambesis is a retarded dick

Their last album was a major disappointment but the two before that are amazing. At least for metalcore

I will admit, I have a soft spot for Frail Words Collapse and Shadows Are Security but I was just testing the waters of metalcore at that point in time.

This teaser isn't impressive at all. Probably it's intro or outro part of the song, I guess. Anyway next monday debut song will be released, so I'm looking forward to it.

Looks very interesting. I really like As I Lay Dying and I love Oh, Sleeper so this has some very decent potential. Will check out. Shane's vocals are freaking awesome.

Name sounds like a revival thrash band. It could be a little odd to see how Shane will fit in, especially if he ends up mainly doing cleans. The As I Lay Dying sound always lent itself to harsher vocals, so it'll be interesting to see what comes of this.

^Yeah, definitely curious to see how this works out. Definitely hoping that they don't completely do away with harsh vocals, but I'm also down for an AILD with mostly cleans. Could be epic. I'm beyond hyped for this - ready for disappointment though at the same time. Potential is off the charts though. Love Oh, Sleeper. Love AILD. Love Shane. and this clip was pretty weak but I thought the clips AILD released with Josh doing vocals were pretty cool. Stoked for Monday.

As I Lay Dying and Oh Sleeper's latest albums were both pretty turdy. Not expecting anything cool from this band. Probably gonna be radio-metal from the sounds of it.

Oh Sleeper also has a pretty bad vocalist but as hivemind rule 72 states " let the vocalist's talent level be that dependent on how good the guitarist is. For if he can riff then the vocals are good and if not then the vocals are insipid and bland for this is the way."

Shane is very talented, so I'm interested to see how this turns out.

I think they mentioned on facebook or elsewhere that it won't sound like AILD or metalcore-ish.

Really? I thought most people viewed Oh, Sleeper's latest album as by far their best work? (supposing we're talking about Children of Fire)

Pretty lame that they didn't post a song. Its hard to get excited about a teaser that features almost none of the finished music.

Okay sorry about the "previously of Oh, Sleeper" part, the news article I read made it sound as if he had left the band.

Also thanks mods for editing this article since my original sucked.

Blay is the clean singer of Oh Sleeper right? Does that mean this new band won't have any harsh vocals? : (

He has done some harsh vox in Oh, Sleeper. Very briefly and I think it was just on their first album, but I assume if it's called for he can probably throw some in there. I'm Excited for this and worried at the same time. I really do hope it isn't too tame, the teasers were just okay but with this much talent in a band they should be releasing great material.

Why would As I Lay Dying need another clean vocalist? For that reason alone I doubt this will sound like AILD.
