Rise Against teases new album
2014-04-14 by TheNoodle | 66 Comments
Rise Against has posted a short 27 second video on their Facebook page to tease a new album. The tease is a quick chronology of their past albums, with a short clip at the end indicating a new album will be "coming soon" in 2014.

https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?v=10153988341220705&set=vb.43541175704

At the end of 2013 Rise Against took some time off following some lengthy touring to recoup, and work on new material. Back in December, Tim McIlrath was quoted as saying, "It's been a good breather, but now I can't wait turn up some amps and scream." This could indicate a return to a heavier sound that was more prominent in their early material. That is only speculation though.

Their sound becomes a lot more "mainstream" after Siren Song. I've been a fan of these guys the whole time, but it would be great to hear them full on rock out again! They've had B-sides all through their discography that shows they still have it in them. I have my fingers crossed that they bring that energy for a full album again.

I'm also hoping for some screams but no matter what we get, i'm sure it will be great. They've become one of my favorite bands over the years and have yet to dissapoint

Linkin Park, Muse, and Rise Against all going to a heavier sound on their next albums? It's gonna be a good year for the more popular rock/alternative music.

not necessarily, but if youre watering down your music to make it more accessible its usually going to be shit, and if theyre going for a less accessible sound the next time around it might mean theyre making what they want to make instead of making safe boring music for the radio. which means its more likely to be good. so yeah, in this case, heavier sound probably = better music

Haha this. Imo they're later albums are just as good, if not better than their earlier ones. Their songwriting continues to get better and better and Endgame has become one of my favourites by them. I'll take songs like Satellite, Architects and Make it Stop over a lot of their earlier, punkier material.

"yeah more and more like watered down radio rock, they sure are becoming master songwriters."

They're sound hasn't changed a massive amount. Not like Metallica from AJFA - Load for example. Listen to TSATF and Endgame and they aren't really THAT different.

The songs have gotten increasingly memorable and melodic. But of course catchy and melodic = selling out/radio rock.

If everything sounds like "Hairline Fracture", I'd be fine with it. Endgame was just samey in a bad way. "Wait For Me" was one of the most boring songs I've ever heard.
