Mastodon Goes Round The Sun
2014-04-04 by AaronBatt | 106 Comments
In an interview with Paste Magazine, Mastodon bassist/vocalist Troy Sanders seems to have
revealed the title of the band's new album: Once More Round The Sun.

Sanders discussed the idea behind the album title, which he says was there even before
Mastodon recorded the title track. He also confirms that a song titled 'Diamonds In The
Witch House' will feature longtime collaborator Scott Kelly of Neurosis, and also seems to
really like a song called 'Ember City'.

It remains to be seen whether the band will stick with the album title, but the three tracks
discussed in the interview join a list of confirmed songs including 'Tread Lightly', 'High
Road', 'Scent Of Bitter Almonds', 'Buzzard's Guts' and 'Aunt Lisa'.

There is not yet a release date for Once More Round The Sun. Graphic artist Skinner
is currently designing the cover artwork.

he'll only be on one song ins so why listen to the whole thing when you can just check the one track?
wouldn't want to have to sit through a whole album by these guys, right? nvm might as well listen to
it all so you can trash it in threads in the future. only listen once though, don't want it to grow
and then all of the sudden you like it and can't shit on it anymore

but wait, looks like most everyone agrees that it will suck so theres absolutely 0 chance of it being
any good at all so no worries

all the sudden lol? been a long time coming. the band hasn't done anything worth talking about since leviathan. I got into Mastodon around Crack The Skye and absolutely loved The Hunter. They seem to be on this "simple" approach this time around like they were on The Hunter so I imagine it'll be something like that. Brann did compare some of the music to Radiohead so it could be the weirdest thing ever, who knows until we actually hear some new shit.

As for those who want the harsh vocals, I doubt it'll happen anytime soon since Brent has said that he hates screaming because it hurts his throat, and I can only imagine how Troy & Brann feel.

I've heard it's going to be a mix of The Hunter and Blood Mountain so i'm pretty pumped. I loved those two albums. I'm actually one of the few who disliked Crack The Skye. Other than Oblivion and Divinations it bored the hell out of me for the most part. These guys are best when they do shorter, catchier songs.
