Brand New Summer 2014 Shows
2014-03-09 by A J M H CONTRIBUTOR | 70 Comments
That band that you either really, really love or really, really hate has announced some
North American dates for their 2014 tour itinerary. To add to the list of European shows
in the Spring, Brand New will do two runs this summer, one through the Midwest and another
up the West Coast. The confirmed dates are as follows:

06/21 - Grand Prairie, TX - Pegasus Music Fest
07/05 - St. Louis, MO - The Pageant
07/06 - Indianapolis, IN - Egyptian Room
07/07 - Louisville, KY - Mercury Ballroom
07/08 - Lansing, MI - Common Ground
07/10 - Pittsburgh, PA - Stage AE
07/11 - Columbus, OH - LC Pavilion
07/12 - Philadelphia, PA - The Mann
07/13 - Silver Spring, MD - The Fillmore
_________________

08/28 - Oakland, CA - Fox Theater
08/30 - Portland, OR - Crystal Ballroom
08/31 - Seattle, WA - The Showbox SoDo
09/01 - Vancouver, BC - The Vogue Theatre
09/04 - Anchorage, AK - Bear Tooth Theatre

It is not yet known if more dates are still to be added or if this is the completed
touring schedule.

For those wondering if these shows will follow in the tradition of recent American dates
in which they played two full albums, the first two at some shows and the later two at
others (drawing the ire of many disappointed attendees), the band has issued this lovely,
ambiguous statement on their website:

In regards to the two album setlists we've played recently, we haven't decided
or committed to playing these sets in Europe, or for any other future tours but it's not
impossible that it will happen. We're not being cryptic, we're just letting you know in
case you were wondering.

Stay tuned for massive overreactions from fans either way.

@futures I don't know what you're talking about. Venues like The Rave and Turner Hall in milwaukee or The Bottom Lounge and the metro in chicago consistently get quality shows.

There's nothing wrong with some nostalgia. Although in all likelihood, their setlist will be Daisy-heavy, and that doesn't exactly sound appealing to me.

haha cheers acad. I'd write more news articles but it's usually already been covered right away. Too
bad the people that find out about this stuff quickly aren't more up to submitting "news" that doesn't
simply link to another site.

Well fuck, the Fillmore is already sold out. I'm bummed. At the same time, the TBS TAYF tour was full of too-old scenesters that acted like a bunch of fucking faggots. I can't imagine a Brand New show would be much different.

christ

you guys, every single time an article gets posted about a band touring, everybody just scans the list, goes "no ____ date!" and fucks off. They play New York all the time, they just did an East Coast swing. These are the added dates for the midwest and the West Coast.

I hope they ditch the two full album thing but if they don't then I've got my fingers crossed for the latter two. That will be the difference between a 3.5/5 show and a 5/5 show.

I will respect the artists' decision either way but it would be upsetting if I didn't hear allllll of my favourite Brand New songs the one time I get to see them. If they play the first two I'll be pumped for like 5 songs but if they do the last two I'll be pumped for like 15.
