BFMV getting edgier
2014-02-17 by Matthis de Bruyn | 82 Comments

After last year's Temper Temper wasn't received very well with the critics, Bullet For My Valentine have written five new songs additional to the already released "Raising Hell" for a new album which is to be released somewhen in the future. Check out the interview with EMP below, along with the video to Raising Hell.

Quote from Matt Tuck (taken from Metalhammer): "I wouldn’t change that record [Temper Temper] for anything, really. That’s the record we wanted to make, and that’s what we should be doing; we should be doing what we want, and we shouldn’t be trying to please anyone else. If the next album we write doesn’t get well received for whatever reason, then it’s, like… you can’t do things for other people. We’ve gotta do it for ourselves, and that’s the only way we can stay true as a band. I think a rule that we’ve always stuck by since Day One was we do it our way and we do it what we wanna do or we don’t do it at all. I think someone else fucking up your career is not acceptable. So if we fuck it up, at least you can sleep at night, you know what I mean? So we’re extremely happy with it, and here we are today still rocking big venues around the world. So we [must be doing] something right, you know?!"

The Poison & Scream Aim Fire were great for me. But everything since has been absolutely abysmal.

This is certainly a step in the right direction, that solo section was refreshing; though still not something that gets me overly excited admittedly.

If Temper Temper was the record that they wanted, BFMV's definition of edgier is probably 1,000% more guitar wanking and 20,000% more horrid lyrics. Raising Hell is okay.

I wouldn't exactly measure my band's success based on the size of the venues we play, it says nothing about the music itself (club shows are better anyway). Jonas Brothers and One Direction play "big venues" and I wouldn't say they "make music for themselves" or that they're "doing something right".

But why the hell am I looking to BFMV for musical integrity lol, nvm.

The Poison was great. About half of Scream Aim Fire was good. One or two tracks from Fever were passable. Temper Temper sucked. Raising Hell was OK.

I'm talking about musically of course, Matt Tuck's lyrics have always sucked and this is from someone who doesn't mind Jonathan Davis' lyrics.
