At The Gates Teaser?

2014-01-21 by Hunter Carter | 36 Comments
Earlier today, legendary Melo-Death act At The Gates released a short ambiguous video via
Facebook. The video itself looks like potential lyric sheets with 2014 boldly stamped in the
middle. With mild speculation its seems that At The Gates may release their first new
record since the immense Slaughter of the Soul, which was released nearly 20 years ago.

I love these guys, but I think releasing an album after the classic that was Slaughter of The Soul is bound to draw a ton of disappointment.

We'll see, though.

They need to go on tour. Whether it's supporting a new album or just a reunion tour. I would love to see these guys live.

they've been back together with no real breaks since 2010. i bet they havent recorded shit cuz they want it to be really good. it's been four years now and they've been writing and now they are certain they want to do it cuz they think it upholds their greatness. it's gonna rule

Here's to hoping it turns out as well as Surgical Steel. Their 2008 Wacken show is my favorite live album of ever.

I've never listened to this band before today even though I've intended to a million times. Now that I'm listening to Slaughter of the Soul, I realize how many bands pull their inspiration from At The Gates. Most notably, Unearth. The song Unto Others especially is just like clearly the inspiration for Unearth's existence.

Agreed Andy Sneap is a horrible mixer, the new Carcass is an exception.

I'm gonna rag on this like I did Carcass so it turns out amazing!

"Fuck ATG, they shouldn't do this. If they do, they will ruin their legacy!"

Let's see what happens.

^ Probably.

Carcass did it, ATG can too.

Exactly. If those old farts could do it, so can these. And this band's style is a lot easier to emulate.
