The Walkmen to go on hiatus

2013-11-29 by AliW1993 | 7 Comments
The Walkmen are set to embark on an "extreme hiatus," having recently completed their final scheduled tour dates.

Speaking to The Washington post on the subject of the New York indie quintet's future, bassist Peter Bauer said: "We have no future plans whatsoever. I’d call it a pretty extreme hiatus. I don't think any of us wanted to write another Walkmen record. Maybe that will change down the line, maybe it won't, maybe we’ll play shows."

He continued: "I think it's weird to make a hubbub about something if there's nothing to really make a hubbub about. At the same time, I don’t think we’ve been a gang properly for a long time, so there's not much to break up, I guess."

The group originally formed in 2000, and have recorded seven studio albums, the last of which, Heaven, was released in May 2012.

Disappointing news, doesn't sound like they have much of a future, but at least they've bowed out on a high. Heaven was my favourite record of 2012.

Heaven was an awesome way to go out, so at least they bowed out on a high note.
