Ital Tek streams new release

2013-11-07 by Kristof B. | 24 Comments
Brighton producer Ital Tek returns to the Planet Mu label with a 8-track "mini album", entitled Control. The release sees him further exploring the UK interpretation of the footwork template to produce "sophisticated and dense sci-fi music that flexes your senses".

Due for release on November 11th, xlr8r already has a stream up for pre-listening: www.xlr8r.com/news/2013/11/listen-ital-teks-control-mini-al.

The last few releases have been a big let down for me, atleast I'll always have Cyclical and Midnight Colour

Midnight Colour is brilliant, but he'll probably never return to that sound. But he's still pretty good while doing the whole footwork/D&B thing

Ok, I'm not too knowledgeable about that genre. So the whole thing about people (and the Mu website) talking about the "drum & bass/footwork cross-polination" is marketing talk or just yet another hype thing?

Well you've got guys like Om Unit who have dabbled in both (separately and together), as well as his stuff with Machinedrum, under the name of Dream Continuum. But footwork has its origins in house music, specifically ghetto house. And then there's juke, and so on... and so on...

But in essence this just a footwork release?

man, I hate discussions like this... anyway, I meant with that that he was doing it now. But apparently I was mistaken.

On a side note, I added this to the db as an EP (the mu website doesn't list it under albums) - would you consider that right place?

Yeah, pretty much. I've seen it listed as both a mini album and as an EP, so it fits where it is
