what happened to the technical riffs?
It's just dada da dad da da dada da da dada da the whole fucking time
| |
Because you would have liked it if it were technical riffs huh Trebor?
| |
2.7/5
| |
wait so they dumped one crap band for another? smart bznz ryte thurrrr
| |
yes I like my metal to actually have riffs, fuck me right?
| |
absolutely nothing new. Pretty boring. Born of Osiris having sex with meshuggah
| |
VoM is in no way special, but don't compare them to capture the crown. They're not THAT bad
| |
but still bad.
| |
yes
| |
not bad but yea needs more riffs and less D DD DD D D DDDD D D DDD
still way better than BoO, god that new album was awful
| |
Yeah, that was pretty lame, hoping the rest will be better.
| |
For real, this is sounds as lacking for Veil's standards as the last BoO album. So comparable. Damn Sumerian
| |
well not my fav VoM song fer sure, but still kinda neet. This needs some more melodic elements besides that fucking nursery rhyme thing
| |
dun dun dun dun dun dun dun dun dun
that's all i hear in this song. wtf happened to okubo's riffs? If nothing else, VoM always has some cool riffs to jam
| |
pretty lame that they're going down the over-produced, symphonic/electronic route. common mans rips and it had none of that bs
| |
It's not safe to VoM today.
| |
heheheheh
| |
common sumerian records band's collapse
| |
Yeah I was pretty unhappy about the lack of riffs. Theres one pretty cool riff right before that part at 3:00 and then the groove at 3:00 is nice. Pretty sure it's just a track to garner attention and be accecible to all the djent kids. I'm sure the rest of the VOM will have plenty of riffs. Marc is to good to waste those away.
| |
Every time I see this band name, I immediately think of Cynic.
| |
common sumerian records band's collapse [2]
| |
pretty forgettable song
| |
veil of caca
| |
Common Man's Collapse remains to be this band's best body of work
| |
started off reminding me of born of osiris ended up sounding more like something off of [id]. it's not bad but there's nothing notable about it
| |
terbor you sound like one grumpy dude, in practically every thread i'm in you have a negative comment to make. cheer up bud
| |
Hope they get Misha again...
| |
DatBeefPudding trebor is right about this one though
OwMySnauze do you mean for production? If so I believe he is supposed to. It's either him or Diego from Volumes. Diego did this one.
| |
Yeah for the production. Misha did a great job on their last album.
| |
agreed. I wouldn't mind Diego either honestly. Especially considering this is just pre production.
| |
"what happened to the technical riffs?
It's just dada da dad da da dada da da dada da the whole fucking time"
Chill they weren't even that good in the first place. All Things Set Aside was their best. No one seems to know how to use breakdowns anymore anyway
| |
lol this is terrible
| |
Decent I love seeing these guys live.
| |
that was pretty dull besides a cool rhythm section.
| |
Veil of Maya is definitely one of my favorite bands in the whole world, and i gotta say, this is
pretty underwhelming. SumerianBoOcore much?
| |
misha and good production don't belong in the same sentence
also 00000000000
| |
I really dislike having Misha working ma boys' VoM songs. Such artificial sound, 0 00 0 0 00 000 0 000 0 00 like an android.
Actually 0 00 0 0 00 000 0 000 0 00 all the way! fuck this
| |
Ehhhh
| |
Sounds so much like Born Of Osiris, wow.
| |
Yes. bah
| |
This is Born Of Osiris. No one can convince me otherwise
| |
i actually like some of the songs of eclipse, but this sounds way more like BoO than they used too. just chug chug chug even more than they used to, literally no riffs boring
| |
This band is such a guilty pleasure for me. I love blasting their last record in my car but, yeah, they're nothing special.
| |
Pantera-Core!!!
| |
sexless video game music
| |
common mans is a shitty metalcore album and i bet this will suck equally or worse
| |
I actually liked that a lot
| |
Dig this for sure
| |
"common mans is a shitty metalcore album and i bet this will suck equally or worse"
LOL
| |
nexus has the downs
| |
Production got waaay better but oops they forgot to write an actual song :P
| |
Band sucks. I'd rather listen to BOO and even they aren't that good anymore.
| |
Didn't the guitar player just get a seven string? Hes probs just having a little fun with it.
| |
He did but this isn't a 7 on the recording.
| |
what happend i was expecting some kickass riffs from mark but i get something that sounds like a dying gorrila
| |
Such a frustrating band. They have the chops and the creativity to make something really great but waste it aping a lesser band. But I suppose you could say that about almost any Sumerian band.
| |
I'm sure they're only doing this to be more accessible for a track. I mean by standards of technicality Punisher was a super simple track compared to other stuff they have put out and the rest of the album was still pretty technical so I'm sure that's what's going on here. Marc isn't the kind of guy that would sacrifice artistic integrity for an entire album.
| |
They are doing the same mistake that BoO that, being ∆/0core. New album is going to be as shitty and boring as TWD∆
∆∆∆
| |
I doubt that.
| |
m/
| |
yeah but at least punisher had a riff
| |
Yeah I know, my point is I'm sure they are going to satisfy with the album. They're not a bunch of no good scum bags like BoO
| |
id was a great album. they should just make id 2.
| |
This actually has a lot of riffs in it granted they are deeper toned riffs. It's definitely not all 0's though, and it's super groovy. I like it. It's probably just me though, I enjoy patterns especially patterns that change slightly through out the song which this has a lot of.
| |
I agree one what you said except for the riffs. There are only like two actual riffs in the song and a few grooves that aren't 0's. But the bass tone is sick and I feel like its a more concept driven song than anything.
| |
Wow, they sound so much like BOO, right down to the vocals, the corny orchestration, and the ice cream truck synths.
Damn, I was hoping what with BOO being crap now, these guys could take their place...
| |
I can't even imagine how boring this song is for them to play. Like what the fuck never liked them but saw potential anyway.
| |
The Common Mans Collapse is still these guys best album and they should rerecord they're debut. As for this song, its sick, I hope the new album is longer then half an hour for once too.
| |
It's like these bands are writing their songs specifically for a live setting. So that they don't have to concentrate as hard on what they're playing and are free to do something else (whatever that is) while on stage.
| |
couldn't even listen to the whole song. everything about is boring and unoriginal.
| |
Dang
Eclipse was solid but this is just jank
| |
i bet people aren't sick of djentcore yet- Veil of Maya
| |
"The Common Mans Collapse is still these guys best album and they should rerecord they're debut. "
Probably right there Noc
| |
holy boring
| |
"I agree one what you said except for the riffs. There are only like two actual riffs in the song and a few grooves that aren't 0's. But the bass tone is sick and I feel like its a more concept driven song than anything."
Eh yeah now that I have listened to it a couple more times the ending does have a lot of 0's. Up until like 3 minutes though I felt like there were some cool sounding riffs haha... I need to stop playing video games when I'm listening to new music Xp
| |
I still like the song though that being said. The tone they chose sounds sweet and even though there are a lot of 0's it has a good groove to it.
| |
"I feel like its a more concept driven song than anything."
that doesn't excuse a shit song
| |
OH COME ON VEIL OF MAYA
| |
Why is everyone bitching about this one song having allot of 00000 in it? Have you guys forgotten that this band has 6 songs that are just a breakdown?
| |
Guys i'm really confused, when/why did Veil Of Maya actually leave Sumerian Records again? I can't find anything about it, anywhere.
| |
They didn't leave Sumerian. They re-signed not resigned. In other words they started another contract with them.
| |
oh, they renewed their contract, i see. Good for them! m/
| |
Yay for homogeneity! Frail Man's Collapse was fantastic but this... this is just pitiful. They need to quit if their going to write the exact same formula for every song and not challenge their own creativity. Open chord, open chord, open chord, chug chug chug gets pretty damn dull after the first time.
1.5/5
| |
veeeeilll offf praaawwwnnsshells.
| |
"Frail Man's Collapse was fantastic but this... "
damn
| |
Ugh what are they doing
| |
Ya no riffs wtf not digging this shit at all
| |
Sounds like a less exciting version of Machine by Born of Osiris. Would be a shit ton of fun in a concert though.
| |
I feel that Eclipse was such a strong step in the right direction for this band that there is no possible way that this new album will be able to compare to it. That being said, song isn't horrible, it just isn't all that good.
| |
"Sounds like a less exciting version of Machine by Born of Osiris. Would be a shit ton of fun in a concert though."
Saw these guys on their headliner and they opened with this track. It was extremely slow moving and obviously wasn't hitting it off with the crowd. Afterwards Unbreakable came on and everyone instantly got kicked up and excited. Veil definitely knows their old fans don't like this sound at all.
| |
This song is a bit too ∆ for my tastes. I mean I like symphony and those lullaby bells and everything, but that doesn't fucking mean you no longer need to play actual stuff on the guitar
| |
