Can we get a full APC or Tool album please. Maynard is busting our balls so hard.
Sweet, project is better than Tool.
Is this some kind of sick joke ?
Heard the song last night and it's not that good
Pretty boring sadly
Digging: The Birthday Massacre - Superstition
What's wrong with this? I think it's pretty good actually. I'd like another APC album please.
This song is good. Anything with Maynard's voice, I'm happy with. Having said that, new Tool would be a bajillion times cooler.
Yeah this is great
Digging: Hurt - Volume One
2.5 albums and they decide it's time for a greatest hits???? fucking lol
This just a tease. Like the song but I'm still waiting for a new APC album. Maybe one day it will come
Yeah, song is pretty meh.
"What's wrong with this?"
It's pretty unengaging compared to the Mer de Noms and Thirteenth Step material.
Unbelievably bland, crushingly disappointed. Everyone in that band sounds so fucking bored. The emotion behind those first two records is completely gone, and they're just phoning it in here. Awful.
idk bout all that, but it does sound surprisingly uninspired considering they haven't done anything new in so long
Good song but we don't need a greatest hits.
Not bad....not great though
The ending of the song is pretty awesome actually
Yeah he's been tickling everyone's balls for years about a new Tool album, on and off teasers about possible new shit and then he releases a new APC song....Maynard being Maynard. Loves fucking with everyone
Eventually people are going to get tired of being fucked with.
well, to be fair, if ppl just stopped riding his nuts so hard and just go about their dailys it wouldn't be a big deal
Yea imo the reason he fucks with his fans is because lots of them worship him like a god and he finds that funny. He's notorious like that.
I agree. I love Tool's work but I've been laughing about all this "new album" news cuz I know how much he loves to fuck with people. I'll believe there's a new album if/when it's released.
True. I don't give into the mind games. If an album comes out, I'll check it. If not, that's cool too. Although the people who are playing the game are going to get tired of it... unless they enjoy being a jackass.
Song is great.
didn't hate it. not worth projecting so many emotions guys. I'll take this over no song
Edit: thought it had finished, ending was cool as fuck.
Studio version sounded like it lacked some oomph. At least compared to when they played it in Summer 2011. Good song though.
The intro kinda sucked, but the rest of the song fucking rules.
Ending gave me asmr. Mad brain boners doe.
not bad, but the APC fan in me secretly wished for this to be something closer to The Hollow or The Outsider
Digging: Sleater-Kinney - Dig Me Out
Two very different songs
Pretty decent song.
"not bad, but the APC fan in me secretly wished for this to be something closer to The Hollow or The Outsider"
Yeah, or even Judith. Something heavy.
Or Orestes. Wouldn't mind another song like that.
Orestes & Brena are favs off of Mer
Orestes is one of my favorite songs of all time.
idk bro, The Bad Touch is pretty hard to beat
That song was great, but I'm seriously getting annoyed by Maynard being a lazy bastard.
JUST MAKE A NEW FUCKING ALBUM ALREADY!! Nobody cares about Puscifer
lol that last part. also i'm sure he just as equally does not care about what his fans want
Nice dig Gonzo. Maynard is really passionate about Puscifer. I'm not a fan of it but he loves it.
V is for Viagra had some jams on it, but those were remixes so yeah
V is for Vagina kinda sucked dick but Conditions of my Parole was fantastic
V is for Vagina, but that's not the album i referenced. just wanted to throw that out there
Puscifer are dogger imo. And while he might not "care what his fans think", they are the reason why he is where he is today. (making wine?) So he holds some responsibilty to making some new material on at least one of his bands!
7 years waiting for the new Tool album? Fucking low man.
Yeah V Is For Vagina is the original and Viagra is the remix if I'm remembering right
Honestly the new Tool album will probably suck if it ever does come out because he obviously couldn't care less right now
maynard does not strike me as the money grubbing type. he seems to be more dedicated to his passion, so I don't think he owes anyone anything. unless I were to lend him a dub or something, then of course he would owe me
Not saying he's money greedy, not at all, in fact refusing to release an album for 7 years would seem to indicate the opposite. I just think he's largely lost his passion for music.
my bad dude, i meant that towards Gonzo
And I'm not saying he's money grabbing either. When did I say that? I said he was lazy and ignorant to his fans.
As for the Tool album sucking, as much as i want to believe that, I just don't think it will be -musically. The only drawback will be vocal work because, as Rowan said, he's lost interest in music.
I don't think he's doing this Tool thing to piss off his fans I just think he doesn't want to release an album he knows is subpar and that he doesn't have passion for
But y'know, what do I know
you didn't say it, but it's sorta implied in your statement that he "owes his fans" for his success
i'm guessing that he doesn't see it as "he owes" anyone for whatever money/success he has acquired, so in that sense does not feel obligated to pay his fans back with more albums
i'm just taking a wild guess that that's not how maynard approaches his creative process
my guess is he has one more full length album left in him. again, just a guess
i too think he's not really feeling the grind anymore
To be honest though I always preferred APC to Tool, if he does have one more full length left in him I'd rather it was an APC one
yeah, but my worry is that APC doesn't have the consistency/chemistry that tool has. so because of that I would have to go with tool
but with all things being equal, i might go with APC
Yeah, as much as I'm a fan of Billy Howerdel, he just doesn't seem to have enough ideas to carry APC ,as can be seen with his pretty sporadic output with Ashes dIvide, and APC is much less of a band/collaborative writing unit than Tool. My guess is that a new album from Tool would be better than a new APC album
This song is great.
this was actually better than i was expecting. with all the pucifer bullshit i've been fearing that maynard's lost his midas touch. though this song didn't have the teeth that anything from Mer De Noms did, the overall composition is pretty interesting. it's got a nice little progress. If anything i'd call it a grower. Still not tool, but it's not as bad as everyone is saying.
Years went into layering a very meh song.
Digging: Panda Bear - Panda Bear Meets the Grim Reaper
The songwriting on this is great, but the performances are awful. Even Maynard sounds like he doesn't care.
Greatest Hits? Off of three albums? Quit jerking off your fanbase.
song is not that good
get off your ass, maynard.
Meh...not terrific, but not terrible.
you didn't say it, but it's sorta implied in your statement that he "owes his fans" for his success
No, you took it as money. Not everything revolves around money, mate...
@ Gonzo i don't follow you then
if his motives don't revolve around money, then why would he owe anyone anything?
the way you stated it, you said he "owes" his fans because they purchased his albums, which in turn brought him money/success
i'm saying if he doesn't do it for extrinsic rewards, and only for art's sake, then my question still remains, why does he owe anyone anything?
i certainly don't feel he owes me anything and i have purchased his albums.
he makes it, i enjoy it. that's pretty much the end of the transaction for me
Oh, for art's sake.
But yea, good points.
so another APC album?
song seems half-assed.
If this song is an indicator of what the future holds for APC, then I can do without another album. And I am tempted to say ditto for Tool.
I think he owes me like $46 or something
"the song will be part of a Greatest Hits compilation slated for release in November."
what the freak is the purpose of a greatest hits compilation, i mean seriously
To cash in on fan devotion, despite the lack of rationale behind it. Seriously, we as music listeners should give Maynard the cold shoulder already. Maybe then he will get "inspired" again.
he likes wine too much now
Yeah. Honestly, I am sick of hearing about him and the stupid fucking vaporware that is the fifth Tool record. It is like that game The Last Guardian. I just wish people would let it be.
Rerelease the same material that's already out there with a bonus song so people will buy it. Or allow new listeners the chance for a "best of" album. Still seems stupid since their discography is only 3 albums. Their last album was released 9 years ago. Aside from Maynard who is in the popular band Tool, this band is hardly relevant anymore unless they are still touring/releasing new music, which a new song on a compilation album is not.
No to mention of those three albums, I am one of a handful of people who actually like Emotive.
never even listened, wasn't it predominantly covers?
Yeah, it was covers plus one original song and a "remix" of Pet. While the covers sound nothing like the originals (The Marvin Gaye cover is more atmospheric than anything else), they are interesting takes on the material.
Don't get me wrong, I enjoyed the albums they had. I'm against the idea of this guy jerking his fanbase off because people see "new song" and just buy the shit they already have when they could just go get the song indivually (legally purchasing, if available as one song, or ripping it from YouTube/dowloading it). That and I feel this band sells because of the association with Maynard which isn't enough justification to get a compilation album from their only three old albums.
Sorry if I sound like a broken record. Slightly peeved.
No, I agree with you. Getting older has proven to make Maynard more of an ass.
the song is ok. would rather have new tool but i'll take this
why the fuck are they coming out with a greatest hits album? They've only released two albums.
^^Three. BUT THAT'S WHAT I'M SAYING!!
