i really don't get how someone can sing "why i should feel this way why i should feel this way" or "i had to let you go to the setting sun" and keep a straight face
Digging: Amorphis - Under the Red Cloud
thought it looked quite promising
Haha Noctus you really just hate this album.
Digging: Portishead - Portishead
i think on an objective level those are pretty awful lyrics
Lyrics are pretty cheesy but its the passion and emotion that really makes the album
i don't think the passion or emotion in weather systems compares whatsoever to judgement or a natural disaster
that aside though i just think every emotional aspect in weather systems is overstated to the point where it just becomes tacky. you know, each sad song starting with a sad plodding piano ala coldplay, the over-use of the orchestra at "key" moments, etc. it's needless over-emphasis and i find it really patronizing.
and like, that's where the lyrics totally fall flat - over-emphasis and lack of cohesion. how many times do you have to hear 'i had to let you go to the setting sun' until you realize it makes absolutely no sense and doesn't add a thing? then add to the point every line is essentially making the same point so they say the same thing in one song about 30 times.
add the bad mixing onto that and i really cannot understand why anyone likes this album when we're here because we're here is essentially weather systems but without falling into shitty potholes. sorry, i just can't.
Another lengthy comment:
I guess thats the thing, it can't be explained rationally, it just clicks. The production and mix could definitely be a lot better I agree on that. Lyrics have never been a prime concern for me.
I enjoy this more than Judgement (a blasphemous statement I know), Judgement has emotion but its even more linear than WS, the orchestral elements add to the songs in a good subtle manner imo. Untouchable 2 is where maybe the orchestra is used to "over-emphasise".
I didn't like the album at all initially but it really grew on me and I started to enjoy the cheese as hell aspects of the music as well, it felt good to be able to just enjoy without over analysing.
*shrugs* wish i could join you on that. i've tried but i can't get past the issues.
I enjoy it, like I enjoy a cheesy movie
its like crying after watching marley and me.
Is it wrong that I was just watching Lee Douglas tits the whole time?
i'm so overwhelmed with passion and emotion oh look tits
(sorry, cheap shot)
I think on an objective level those are pretty awful lyrics
They're not great, but I love the song enough to not care
Judgement and A Natural Disaster both destroy Weather Systems
I always thought parissiene moonlight had corny lyrics, helluva song tho
I've liked this album from my first listen. Cheese and all. The instrumentation is top notch and it's passionate as hell.
I think I like those lines you mentioned because, for me, they invoke a nice imagery in my mind.
the lyrics really aren't that bad compared to a lot of lyrics, i'd rather hear somewhat corny lyrics as opposed to abysmal lyrics or lyrics that tried too hard to be intelligent
fantastic album btw, sure the dvd will rule
Not gonna lie, I really really like this track and Part 1. The rest is forgettable though.
