Dark Tranquillity celebrate 20

2013-08-30 by Trey Spencer STAFF | 13 Comments
To celebrate Skydancer's 20-year anniversary, Dark Tranquillity are planning to release an updated CD, LP and digital version of the album with remastered sound and new packaging.

More details will be announced shortly, but for now the 2013 edition of "Skydancer" is exclusively available on the official D.T. Bandcamp page, where it can be streamed or purchased at a fan-friendly price: http://darktranquillity.bandcamp.com

Says the band:

This truly makes us feel old! "Skydancer" is a weird and quirky album that stood out like a sore thumb in the early '90's metal climate. Most people didn't quite know what to make of the complex instrumental arrangements, acoustic guitar interludes, clear vocals and the shameless focus on melodies, but the reviews and general reception were stellar, and in hindsight the album proved to be a starting point for many great things to come. Here's to the next 20 years!

Definitely in their top 3 or 4 albums. The sound is what always needed some work... hopefully this will fix the muddy production.

It's a great debut but I find most of what they've done since far superior tbh.

Easily their most underrated album. Looking forward to this, interested to hear how all the songs respond to a remaster.

If they re-recorded it with their current sound and Stanne on vocals, it could be my favorite DT album.

I have to say "Alone '94" off the Of Chaos and Eternal Night EP is in my top DT tracks because it's a song from Skydancer (so it's sounds like early DT which I love) plus has Stanne on vox, who is much better than Anders. I think if they just re-recorded this album with Stanne on vocals for all tracks aside from Anders' part in "Shadow Duet" it would be amazing.
