I don't think you can ever top Witness, but this really is a wake up call to hardcore bands that reunited and produced crap (Verse) or are coasting (Defeater).

Kinda weird seeing people talk about how this shows up a lot of MLIW initiators, because it doesn't really. Tbh, more than a couple of those bands have put out better albums than this. This is the very fucking definition of treading water.

Agreed, More Than Life clearly listen to MLIW on repeat. In fact I'm sure they randomly post MLIW videos on their facebook page. MLIW paved the way for these bands, and whilst this album doesn't carve out new territory like Witness did, it absolutely ups the standard given how bland Letters Home is, as well as the swell of mediocre melodic hardcore bands that have sprung up since MLMW and Witness.
