Picking the former Disturbed front-man to produce was the worst idea ever. This band has regressed so much. :-(

Considering how most of the class of 2004-2007 have declined in recent years, Trivium are still probably one of the better bands.

That's clearly not why they made it a free download.

Song is fine. A bit simplistic and radio friendly for my liking though.

Couldn't careless about Trivium post Shogun.

Anyways, it basically sounds exactly like anything from In Waves. They haven't evolved at all since then, which is a shame because all of their previous albums were a step in a different direction. It was decent, but not one of their more impressive songs.

Wasn't too bad. Sounds like something off In Waves. I'd say that their days of making albums like Shogun are behind them, unfortunately. Song was still catchy though.

I hope that this song is the "built to fall" of the album and we get some other cool songs. If they could do an album with a few In Waves-esque straightforward songs with the technical ability displayed on shogun, that'd be great. Throw a few Torn Between Scylla and Charybdis in there and we're good

The song was decent, but nothing exciting. However, Heafy has been wearing a bunch of black metal shirts (I.e. Emperor) and there's a video of Heafy covering Opeth's Harvest, so I still have my optimism.

Emyay

I thought it was pretty good. Not one of their best songs, but its got some cool rhythms, riffs, and solos. I think the weakest part were the clean vocals. Heafy sounds fine, but I think the melodies aren't very memorable. I predict this will be on par with the average songs on the album. There will be worse tracks, but there will also be wayy better tracks.

My biggest hope is that this is just the single off the album. It sounds a lot like Black and Built to Fall...Trivium was one of my first "heavier" bands, and I've moved onto a lot better stuff, but I can't help but follow them and get excited for the new album.

My last hope is that the rest of the album will be heavier since Matts been wearing a lot of black metal shit, and is obsessed with In Flames/Opeth.

2011's In Waves set extremely high with its innovative and inventive approach to the Florida quartet's patented infectious thrash. However, Vengeance Falls is shaping up to be a game-changer for not only the group but the entire genre.

The opening track kicks off with a neck-snapping six-string stomp galloping along with a pummeling double bass groove. Everything turns on a dime into a staggering groove swinging and out like a seesawing sledgehammer. Frontman Matt Heafy's snarl on the verse injects real venom into the assault before leading into an immediately irresistible refrain—"I don't think I can ever brave this storm".

Of course, everything spirals out into a mind-numbing salvo of leads worthy of shred history. David Draiman captured the band at their fiercest and most focused.

Every metal band experiences a moment that turns the tides when they launch to the top; this belongs to Trivium.
