Evan Brewer, known as the bassist of the metal band The Faceless, has released a follow up to his solo bass album, Alone.

From a technical standpoint, Evan always delivers the goods. I can't ever see myself enjoying this as anything more than background noise though

alone was great, just really really tiring to listen to for more than a few tracks. :/

Definitely better than the first album, as this is a trio playing. But it'll still get only a rare listen from me every now and then.

Digging: Interpol - El Pintor

God this guy makes me want to just give up playing. He's too good. That being said, I don't think I dig this as much as his first. Still some really cool stuff though and maybe it'll grow on me. I'm definitely excited to see him play live next month. With a whole live band, I could picture some cool jammy improv shit thrown in the set.

even if the songs themselves aren't too appealing, just listening to the way he plays that bass is fucking beautiful

The bass really needs to be accompanied by some badass guitar riffs...as good as he is, the instrument is just too dull for the style he's going for
