Longevity. It counts for something in the music biz. In the case of older rockers it counts to have baby boomer fans with much disposable income and a desire to relive a youth they most likely never had, exactly. Take the kids, take the pets, let them hear what mom and dad rocked out to all that time ago. And it will only cost $1400 for a family of four for the privilege of hearing Mick Jaggar sing Satisfaction live one more time!

Bruce Springsteen raked in a whopping $103 million the first half of this year playing 31 shows with an average attendance of nearly 50,000 fans. At the fine old age of 63 he apparently isn't just "the Boss" anymore but the CEO and majority shareholder, as well.

The botox infused Jon Bon Jovi and his band of rockin' celebrities did even better, although playing twice as many shows to half as many fans a night to achieve a paltry $12 million more then Bruce and the E Streeters. Still, good work if you can get it. But who can? Well, apparently skipping college pays off for some.

Work less, make more? Well, leave that to the retirement age Rolling Stones who know their aging fan base has money to burn on youthful nostalgia as their near average $350 ticket price has found them flush with cash and making $5 million dollars a night for a total of 87 million dollars over just 18 shows. These guys have been rockin' so long it's as if you and I got paid $5 million bucks just to get out of bed and stand up! But they do it well, and get paid even better.

Other top earners for the first half of the year include Sir Paul McCartney, Elton John, Fleetwood Mac with a surprising $58 million in ticket sales, and even Eric Clapton got into the fun. The long "retired" from touring guitarist managed to come out of retirement for a bit and rake in $28 million to supplement his rock 'n roll pension.

I'm surprised at the Bon Jovi one. They had to cancel the concert at Cleveland Browns Stadium, because he reportedly sold less than 3,500 tickets.
