I started at Australasia and moved from there, but most would say The Fire In Our Throats, so either or..

Can not wait for this album

if you want their heaviest material go with the s/t EP and Australasia

their more mellow and melodic stuff The Fire In Our Throats onwards

no matter what these guys know how to riff

lol he's always been good, being too fucking technical wouldn't suit the songs

I think a little expirementation or technical wizardry on the drums would suit Pelican just fine, but this song is still pretty damn good. Stoked for the new album

I'll have to give this a listen. I wasn't able to get into them in the past but they were some of the first post-metal I tried.

I'm not asking for technical prowess from their drummer, but I recall a song off Australasia where he did the same simple drum fill like, 30 times in a row. It's a shame, because I like everything else about that album.

Damn knew they were in studio, but didn't expect album news so fast. Couldn't get into their past two albums, seemed to venture too much into stale post-rock territory for my tastes. This track, however, has definitely piqued my interests.

The drums might be my favorite thing about this band.

Their drums always play well off of the riffs, so they never feel out of place and I have always loved
that about Pelican.

That's more important than trying to be so complex that you overshadow other parts on songs or take
away the mood or feel of the song with pointless 'look at me and how good I am at the drums over here
guyz looklooklook'-ing.

The drums on TFIOTWBTT is one of my favorite drumming performances ever, the drums are what make that album to me. Apart from the atmosphere.

Why, because he's not flashy and does what's needed to get the bands sound across?

Yea he's not flashy but there's nothing wrong with his drumming.
People act like he's drowning puppies or something.
