What is is with these album titles. My Bloody Valentine - MBV and now Arctic Monkeys - AM.

"R u mine?" is a great song. Don't like the first one. Hopefully the rest of the album will be interesting.
|

AAAAH YEWWWWW MAAAAAAAAHN?!
|

These song titles; yikes.

These song titles; yikes. [2]

Excited like always for a new Arctic Monkeys album. I never though R U Mine? would be on it. Thought it was just a single
|
| |
9gag is celebrating this

"06 No. 1 Party Anthem"
oh lord. These song titles; yikes. [3]
R U Mine? was really good though and Do I Wanna Know? was decent too
|
| |
excited
|
| |
Welp I'm excited :D
I've yet to listen to the new singles however
|
| |
Yeah...
these song titles; yikes [4]
Still excited for the album, though. Both singles kick ass. Hopefully the other songs, despite the cringe-worthy titles, are as good
|
| |
"No. 1 Party Anthem: An Arctic Monkeys Tribute To LMFAO" was the original title.
|
| |
Knee Socks? Whatever, I'm pretty excited for this one.
|
| |
these titles sound like they're targeting teenagers and their drunk house parties
|
| |
Looking forward to this. I'm not convinced by Do I Wanna Know, but R U Mine is one of the best songs they've ever written.
|
| |
remember when this band was relevant
|
| |
I'm excited for this. I still say Humbug is my favourite so the fact they went to the desert and that Josh Homme was somewhat involved is good news to me.
I just hope Alex Turner is able to channel some of the poetic lyricism of the first 3 albums, and that this whole album wont be just generic rock lyrics like they've been doing lately. Which were good, don't get me wrong, but Alex Turner can be more creative than that.
|
| |
"remember when this band was relevant"
They still are...
|
| |
fuckin sweet
|
| |
I like the song titles...
|
| |
I miss old Arctic Monkeys, I even loved Humbug but they're starting to lose me, they seem to have hit that "we're already famous so we can do whatever we want" point in their career
|
| |
Fuck yes
|
| |
@SgtPepper - I thought Turner's lyrics were still pretty clever on Suck It and See. Some clunkers like "Brick by Brick" and "Don't Sit Down..." but others were fantastic.
Although the new singles sound great, the lyrics in either song aren't anything to get excited for
|
| |
Yeah I thought the lyrics and Turner's voice on Suck It & See were the best they've ever been.
|
| |
Man I hope this is good

remember when this band was relevant
Some people have a pretty skewed view of what constitutes being "relevant."
|
| |
I just hope Alex Turner is able to channel some of the poetic lyricism of the first 3 albums,
Suck It And See is really great lyrically throughout imo. Personal fav: "That's not a skirt girl, it's a sawn-off shotgun".
|
| |
Though i personally think, like bandido pointed out, suck it and see had a few seriously stupid lyrics, alex mostly sung a lot of clever ones like "called the voice of reason, and got the answering machine".
When i said that comment, about generic rock lyrics, i was mainly talking about songs like "r u mine", and most of the b-sides they've released. "Do i wanna know" has more thought into its lyrics though, as its got some good lines, so im not too worried. I just hope alex is putting as much effort on his lyrics as he is perfecting that ridiculous quiff hairstyle.
|
| |
R u mine is seriously rad, hoping they follow that line plz
|
| |
The hairstyle is incredible.
The lyrics on Suck It And See were mostly excellent but occasionally very simple. I guess that's forgivable.
