how dare they
Digging: Guilty Connector - Curved Dream In Town
I heard about this earlier but didn't know it was for one show. Disappointing.
At least it's not a blatant money grab like ATDI and (to a much lesser extent) Refused.
ONE MORE RECORD! ONE MORE RECORD! ONE MORE RECORD!
Refused was fun. ATDI just played a few festivals and didn't even appear to be enjoying it.
sucks that they're only doing one show, band rules
Digging: Car Seat Headrest - Teens of Denial
very misleading title
mother's be good to yoooo daaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaughters
change title to "daughters reunion show" so that i won't get all excited for no reason.
"very misleading title"
Right? How does this get approved? Was excited at first. Fail sputnik, fail.
yeah this is lame
Pawtucket? freakin sweet
Digging: Nothing - Tired of Tomorrow
I'd like this more if I lived in Rhode Island.
FUCK this is the only time I've ever wished to live in Rhode Island
Holy shit, shame a continent seperates me from that show. Hell Songs and S/T are both fantastic records so I hope they'll end up getting over the seperation
i will be there.
Digging: John Zorn - The Circle Maker
sucks it's only one show. why did they breakup in the first place?
"Refused was fun. ATDI just played a few festivals and didn't even appear to be enjoying it. "
That's true. ATDI did look pretty unenthused, but Refused definitely win the cash grab game. They vowed to never reunite, but decided to put out a dvd (which they pretty much spent an hour sucking themselves off), then did reunite and played all the same huge festivals and then some that ATDI played. I thought the whole thing was pretty lame, especially since their final breakup letter and dvd was called "Refused is fucking dead".
chesse13: They broke up because Alexis Marshall (singer) felt as if the guitarist Salder (who wrote a lot of the album this time around) made their sound accessible to please others even though in my opinion Sadler only wanted to add more groove and heavier undertones to the album, Marshall complained about this after the album was completed and ended up saying on an interview:
"It's so easy to steer it and try to be accepted, and do this because this is what's good, and this is what's going to make our band popular. That's no good. That's not art. That's shit. It's not even shit. It's less than shit. What's less than shit? I don't even know. Trying to be other bands... that's less than shit."
I love Marshall even if he's a crazy mofo.
In brief Sadler and Marshall both want to make art, one of them adds accessible elements (in good faith) to make the sound progress and the other sees it as corruption over artistic integrity
I wish I could see this.
marshall is fucking crazy, s/t was miles from a pop album.
it was still nowhere near as cool as hell songs though.
this whole tl;dr generation is really disheartening.
in brief: tl;dr sucks
Pretty cool but unreachable for me.
yeah what's with with hate for Refused? So many people got into them after they broke up. It'd be a huge missed opportunity (not talking about money) for them NOT to come back and deliver the incredible music they made before they broke up in 1998. Seeing them was like a celebration.
Their s/t is one my favourite albums of all time. Fucking amazing band.
how the fuck did i missed this?
