Paramore Singer Damages Voice

2013-05-04 by andcas | 56 Comments
Paramore was scheduled to play the Conan O'Brien show until lead singer Hayley Williams ended up blowing out her vocals during a rehearsal. She was immediately taken to the emergency room at Cedars Sinai Hospital where it became unclear how serious the injury might be to her voice.

It was speculated that surgery might be necessary to rectify whatever went wrong just hours before the band was about to go on air. Fortunately, an official statement has been issued about the cancellation informing any worrying fans that it's only an apparent sickness that brought on the scare.

What does that mean "blowing out her voice"? Does it mean that she lost her voice or something?

She probably damaged the nodes or whatever, this can happen with singers who belt a lot

Shit happened hard to Davy Havok (whose voice sounded different after) and Skrillex who never really recovered from it either

Probably just bein a drama queen. Compare what she does to what any other rock singer does and tell me
she's gonna "blow her voice out". At the very least it's just unprofessional to be unprepared to play
fucking Conan O'Brien. I get out of bed every morning/afternoon; somebody get me a medal and an
ambulance.

I don't think you damage the nodes, I think the nodes grow on your vocal cords if they are abused. If I'm not mistaken usually vocal surgery is to remove those nodes.

to be honest, I kinda expected this. She's got a really decent voice and it seemed probable that she'd blow it out at some point, too bad it wasn't for the sake of a better band.

As a singer, vocal damage is your worst fear. It's like an athlete or dancer tearing his ACL or something. Good luck to her.
