3 Doors Down Bassist Jailed

2013-04-21 by Jeff Channing Tatum Gordon Freeman | 85 Comments
The bassist of mainstream rock band 3 Doors Down, Robert Todd Harrell, 41, was charged with vehicular homicide on Friday night, after driving in Nashville under the influence of hard cider, Xanax, oxycodone, oxymorphone and Lortab. Harrell's car clipped the pick-up truck of Paul Howard Shoulders, which was sent down an embankment. At the time, Shoulders wasn't wearing his seatbelt, so he was ejected from his car, killing him instantly.

"he hasn't been jailed, he's just been charged"

Are you sure?

"During a search in the booking room, authorities said, Davidson County Sheriff's deputies discovered a plastic bag concealed in his sock that contained 8 Xanax pills, 24 oxycodone pills and 4 oxymorphone pills. Harrell also has been charged with bringing controlled substances into the jail.

He was being held in lieu of $100,000 bond."

Cause it kind of sounds like they are holding him from that.

I just said the intoxicated driver is still at fault. Just pointing out he probably wouldn't have died if he'd been doing the sensible thing himself. Over here it's illegal not to wear seatbelts so that's where this is coming from

Nomos

It's his fault for the DUI. But not the "murder" - that turd should have been wearing a seatbelt. Yeah, I know, people here, with delusion, fancy themselves to be morally upstanding and think we can't say anything remotely negative about the dead.

I don't really care. Idiot should have been wearing a seatbelt.

Captain North
April 21st 2013
6793 Comments

I am entirely sure it would have been much much less likely that he would have died. What is it with Americans and thinking not wearing a seatbelt is okay? Studies show time and time again that it radically reduces chances of death.

Yes the other guy should still be done for manslaughter at the very least, but the point is, if this guy had fucked up on his own he'd still be dead because he wasn't wearing a seatbelt. We could be one less death in the world if he'd had sense of his own. Obviously it'd be better still if the bassist hadn't been a total fuckhead

Captain North

Except you have to wear a seatbelt by law, so no, that's not an accurate analogy at all

Captain North
April 21st 2013
6793 Comments

No, and I've made that clear too. But there is undeniably an element that is his own fault as well. There is a reason it's lawful to wear a seatbelt, and he broke that law and died partly because of it. As I stated multiple times, the bassist still deserves jail. I'm just saying this guy could probably have avoided death by taki precautions that are not in any way inconvenient or irritating and take up literally two seconds of time. They both broke the law at the end of the day dude

I get your point, but I'd say it's easier to prevent the relatively fewer number of drug-addicted rock stars from taking an impressive slurry of drugs and then getting behind the wheel than it is to get every single driver and passenger to use their seatbelts everywhere and at all times.
