A mysterious new Boards of Canada release has surfaced. Some vinyl records (one pictured here:
shipped out to a few record stores throughout the world as part of RSD. They play a short snippet of signature
BOC synths followed by 6 random numbers read in a robot voice, possibly part of a viral campaign for a new
album. BOC have not released any new music since a 2006 EP, and the likelihood of them coming out with a
new album has seemed highly unlikely for quite some time.
A video of the record being played is here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Qe4UCjjyr8U
Digging: The Books - Lost And Safe
did u just link an image from 4chan in a news article

Digging: Ed Harrison - Neotokyo

Psyched. Time to bust out the Drugs
Digging: Cult of Luna - Salvation
don't fuckin mess with me omg
Digging: Symptom - Opulent Atrocity
"did u just link an image from 4chan in a news article"
but this is fucking awesome news.
linking anything from 4chan is inherently dumb
a) it's 4chan, anything on there is far from credible
b) anything you do link will disappear when the thread dies
c) it's fucking 4chan
i tried going on /mu/ today cause i had literally nothing to do for a good hour
Digging: Troubled Medium - WHAT ARE YOU DOING
4chan is the worst agreed
there was a hardcore thread and a bunch of people were talking about crust and pv and a bunch of other subgenres so i mentioned a few screamo bands
"THIS IS A FUCKING HARDCORE THREAD YOU PLEB SCREAMO AND HARDCORE AREN'T EVEN CLOSE TO BEING SIMILAR THE ALPHAS ARE TALKING RIGHT NOW SO LEAVE YOU BETA TOP LEL FAG"
well they kinda have a point lol
yeah i could get it if it was just a straight up hardcore thread but they were talking about subgenres
and screamos a subgenre of hardcore
i even pointed this out and the only reply anyone had was "well screamo is faggy shit so we don't want it here"
screamo's a subgenre of emo tho...not hardcore. it's influenced by hardcore yea, but i wouldn't say it's a subgenre
it fuses the two genres, i guess it's debatable but most of the people i've talked to have said the same thing
Hope it comes out this year. New MBV and BOC in the same year would be awesome.
Digging: Zomby - With Love
yea i guess it's debatable kman
right lou? cot dayum
screamo's a subgenre of emo tho...not hardcore. it's influenced by hardcore yea,
but i wouldn't say it's a subgenre
Emo is a subgenre of punk and screamo is a subgenre of emo, yet screamo has more inherent similarities to hardcore than emo, so yea
i didn't say otherwise
it was mainly just the way they responded that was so bad
literally word for word one of the replies was just
why the fuck are you degenerates discussing screamo in a BoC thread???????????????//
cus we like to ruin nice things
WELL JOB WELL FUCKIN DONE
also screamo is totally a hardcore subgenre. fuck /mu/ ugh pure cancer
"screamo's a subgenre of emo tho...not hardcore."
Screamo is a subgenre of emo, and since emo is a subgenre of hardcore... the math really isn't that difficult.
key doesn't emo much (or at all as far as i know) so i can let it slide
i am so sorry for causing this
fuck /mu/ agrd
dam emo's a hardcore subgenre? i always thought hardcore and emo were adjacent branches of punk
trve emo is a hardcore subgenre too actually, i'm guessing you've probs only heard the twinkly stuff tho which tends to be closer to indie rock. but yeah bands like moss icon and rites of spring are emo and they have a toooon of hardcore influence
yeah dude listen to some rights of spring and embrace, earliest emo prob and its totally derivitave of hardcore.
of course midwestern emo (sunny day real estate, jimmy eat world (apparently?) and braid) isnt very hardcore at all, but thats a different can of worms
yeah that's mostly the emo i listen to occasionally (the latter). i always thought the hardcore influenced emo was just screamo. had no clue it was originally a derivative.
Oh word yeah emo is just short for emotional hardcore
ah right on. clearly not one of my favorite genres
def one of mine, but im a queer like that
yeah same, it's really the genre that got me into good music in general so I've always just loved it.
Geogaddi's good. Who likes The Campfire Headphase?
Digging: Kauan - Pirut
i love it
How could you not? There's awesome and more awesome BoC, nothing else.
yeah there's god-tier boc and then there's amazing boc. ugh best band
Lol @ attempting to link to a 4chan image.
Digging: Exivious - Liminal
Holy fucking shit
Is this the real life, or is this just fantasy?
Digging: Hammock - Oblivion Hymns
gonna keep my hopes low
I only asked who likes the Campfire Headphase to derail the screamo conversation. I love Campfire, even though I think it's their weakest release. It's great either way.
Edited: same image, no longer from 4chan
fixed the links too, i guess https doesn't work with sput
Been really digging these guys. Happy about this.
