New Boards of Canada activity

A mysterious new Boards of Canada release has surfaced. Some vinyl records (one pictured here:
http://2020k.files.wordpress.com/2013/04/boards-of-canada-record-store-day-2013.jpg) were
shipped out to a few record stores throughout the world as part of RSD. They play a short snippet of signature
BOC synths followed by 6 random numbers read in a robot voice, possibly part of a viral campaign for a new
album. BOC have not released any new music since a 2006 EP, and the likelihood of them coming out with a
new album has seemed highly unlikely for quite some time.

A video of the record being played is here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Qe4UCjjyr8U

linking anything from 4chan is inherently dumb

a) it's 4chan, anything on there is far from credible
b) anything you do link will disappear when the thread dies
c) it's fucking 4chan

there was a hardcore thread and a bunch of people were talking about crust and pv and a bunch of other subgenres so i mentioned a few screamo bands

"THIS IS A FUCKING HARDCORE THREAD YOU PLEB SCREAMO AND HARDCORE AREN'T EVEN CLOSE TO BEING SIMILAR THE ALPHAS ARE TALKING RIGHT NOW SO LEAVE YOU BETA TOP LEL FAG"

yeah i could get it if it was just a straight up hardcore thread but they were talking about subgenres

and screamos a subgenre of hardcore

i even pointed this out and the only reply anyone had was "well screamo is faggy shit so we don't want it here"

Keyblade

screamo's a subgenre of emo tho...not hardcore. it's influenced by hardcore yea, but i wouldn't say it's a subgenre

Kman418

it fuses the two genres, i guess it's debatable but most of the people i've talked to have said the same thing

Emo is a subgenre of punk and screamo is a subgenre of emo, yet screamo has more inherent similarities to hardcore than emo, so yea

"screamo's a subgenre of emo tho...not hardcore."

Screamo is a subgenre of emo, and since emo is a subgenre of hardcore... the math really isn't that difficult.

trve emo is a hardcore subgenre too actually, i'm guessing you've probs only heard the twinkly stuff tho which tends to be closer to indie rock. but yeah bands like moss icon and rites of spring are emo and they have a toooon of hardcore influence

demigod!
April 21st 2013
44726 Comments

yeah dude listen to some rights of spring and embrace, earliest emo prob and its totally derivitave of hardcore.

of course midwestern emo (sunny day real estate, jimmy eat world (apparently?) and braid) isnt very hardcore at all, but thats a different can of worms

Keyblade
April 21st 2013
15040 Comments

yeah that's mostly the emo i listen to occasionally (the latter). i always thought the hardcore influenced emo was just screamo. had no clue it was originally a derivative.
