WTF is this.... why in the hell would any of these artists be in the soundtrack for The Great Gatsby? My expectations for the movie were just significantly lowered.

dude the great gatsby is about quintessential american capitalism
which is why here in america it is a classic (well beyond the beautiful prose and all that good stuff)

indeed, hence your aussie showing (this is meant to be more facetious than it sounds)
btw tommy listened to in rainbows, it's somewhere around a 3.7-4.0. i didn't really get a handle on it so i'll give it a few spins before rating. it'll most likely go up though

haha yeah I get ya just saying I don't like it cos I found it boring, not because of foreign themes or whatever (which shouldn't really be an issue anyway... eg a book like trainspotting, which is so distinctly scottish, I found absolutely captivating)

that's sweet about in rainbows man it really gets under your skin with each additional spin too

No one on this soundtrack fits except for Lana Del Rey. Also, I hated the book.

Come on, this movie needs some Thelonious Monk and Louis Armstrong. May not have been the greatest
book, but it was still quite good. The setting calls for some good jazz tracks, some blues, etc. This
crap doesn't even fit.

In the Levittowns of the 1940s (20 or so years AFTER this story would've taken place), you could buy a house for about 65$.

I hope this isn't a sign that movies will start having more mediocre pop and hip hop songs in
soundtracks instead of instrumental/or vocal tracks/pieces......

I would be extremely disappointed if future movies follow this trend. I'm ok with a few tracks, but an
entire soundtrack full of this stuff?!

pretty sure there's a difference between soundtrack and score, a lot of these songs may not even end up in the movie

that said, the movie's still probably going to suck
