What a ridiculous name and genre. Enough to steer anyone with taste away.
Digging: Rx Bandits - Mandala
sweet band name
Digging: Smif-N-Wessun - Dah Shinin'
madcreator thinks he has taste because he progs hrd to anathema
Digging: Vindensang - Alpha
Acid Death isn't really a ridiculous name. And technical death metal isn't a ridiculous genre either. What kind of rock has Madcreator been living under?
the rock where you 4.5 minutes to midnight and knock others' tastes
oh that one
A prog-rock. Hurr hurr.
I guess there are far worse, like Anal Cunt and Pig Destroyer...
What's wrong with Anathema, Mr. Opeth?
I play Anal Cunt to my children.
Ouch Keyblade, right in the nostalgia.
nothing wrong with em. i like em a lot actually. it's funny tho seeing people get into a bit of fauxprog and fashion themselves as having "refined" tastes.
Never said I did. I just can't see much taste involved in most "death" metal. Prove me wrong, but there is nothing artistic about imitating a pig squeal down a microphone while saying "He is so cruel and likes the acid / Satan gave him the power to kill"
you may not have but you implied that you have better taste than those who listen to death metal. you
clearly are very ignorant of the genre (and that's being polite) so i'll just leave it at that
I am very ignorant in this genre, because I have been put off by "artists" like Acid Death. Please tell me how they are artists and rec me some 'good' death metal.
well i'm not familiar with this particular band (and i doubt you are either apart from being put off
by their name).
but you can always check out Death...possibly the song Without Judgement or the entire Symbolic album.
read the lyrics etc and then tell me there's nothing "artistic" about it
Go listen to
Death - Human
Immolation - Close to a World Below
diSEMBOWELMENT - Transcendance into the Peripheral
Bolt Thrower - Realm of Chaos
Savor what you feel and what you see
Things that may not seem important now
But may be tomorrow
Do you remember when
Things seemed so eternal?
Heroes were so real...
Their magic frozen in time
The only way to learn
Is be aware and hold on tight
I close my eyes
And sink within myself
Relive the gift of precious memories
In need of a fix called innocence
When did it begin?
The change to come was undetectable
The open wounds expose the importance of
A high that can never be bought or sold
"imitating a pig squeal down a microphone while saying "He is so cruel and likes the acid / Satan gave him the power to kill"
Well Symbolic has an average rating of 5.1/5 so it must be so good it's broken Sputnik.
Here's some Amon Amarth lyrics:
I rip the axe from the head,
covered in blood and brains.
Leave the body lying dead,
Ready to strike again.
While I admit there is some form of poetic structure there, seriously, they're pretty darn moronic.
I just want to see someone argue convincingly why this is good. I'm not trying to piss you off, I just want to understand...
I think this is the best time for me to do this.
WITHOUT JUDGEMENT, WHAT WOULD WE DO?
WE WOULD BE FORCED TO LOOK
AT OURSELVES EMERGED IN LOST TIME.
ASSUMING WHAT MAY BE WITHOUT JUDGEMENT,
PERCEPTION WOULD INCREASE
A MILLION TIMES.
Also, Amon Amarth blows.
somebody's been fucking with the ratings, but it had a 4.5 average before so
dude you gotta listen to music in context. amon amarth = primal (but very melodic) music that's supposed to sound like the image it's trying to portray, which is vikings raping and pillaging motherfuckers. not all music and lyrics are supposed to have some profound meaning. atmosphere is pretty huge (at least for me) and especially in metal
also yeah, listening to death metal and saying it all sucks because of the lyrics is stupid
i rarely even give a shit about lyrics unless it's like a concept album or something. but if it can enhance the atmosphere than i'm all for it.
mad it's cool that you're trying to understand tho. what's douchey tho is trying to shit on an entire genre with (extremely) limited knowledge
only time I focus on dm lyrics is if they rule. Like Death or Immolation.
The uprising, falling Nations
Overthrown in riot and hate
Violent circles clash in anger
War decides all fate
Rape of the land
The insane parade as kings
Fools follow the men
Who uprise and lead in greed
Pleading cries of desperation
The loss of pride
The loss of all hope
Deceived is man
As he falls before the ones who preach
Following their lies
His trust, belief, in vain
In the ones that live deceit
Man killing man
Diseased mind in control
Insane men lead the foolish
Lifeless ones who follow
(Ceremony, "Parade The Insane")
...I don't even like death metal and I can see how flawed your argument is. If you were talking about GRINDCORE, then yeah. Pig squeals, grossout, barely music. But generalising that to ALL extreme/death metal is stupid.
Well fuck me bro.
Still, why actually would you want to listen to music about Vikings rapinf and pillaging motherfuckers? And what does screamed vocals actually add, apart from making the music unpleasant to listen to?
hahaha 26 comments and not one of them is relevant to the new Acid Death EP.
Digging: Mekong Delta - Kaleidoscope
And what does screamed vocals actually add, apart from making the music unpleasant to listen to?
And what does clean singing actually add, apart from making the music all melodic and crap? Music
is art. Art is supposed to represent different feelings, and evoke a sense of those feeling in its
audience. Death metal does this. It's art, it's expression. Death metal, specifically, is an
attempt at pushing the boundaries of art, pushing musicians to both reach for their physical limits,
as well reach into new, less "welcome" or "normal" musical territory.
Not liking death metal is one thing, but saying that the genre has no merit simply because you don't
enjoy the techniques used by many of its vocalists is pretty stupid.
