The Ghost Inside were pretty classy. Just said "expect another melodic hardcore record.

Awful trailer. Like, spectacularly crappy
|
| |
"see people say the greatest generation has come and gone but they're
wrong. they haven't seen what we're capable of"
hope that turns into a sample put at the beginning of the album

Trailer may have been a little much but sounds like the vocals have improved quite a bit judging by
the short clip. Album should be good

i mean yeah it definitely comes off slightly pretentious for a pop punk band but im sure the album will rule and im stoked
|

I'm a little concerned, cos it was the themes of depression that made me connect in the first place

I kind of like how ridiculous this trailer is.
Super pumped for this based on the last 30 seconds or so of music

I'd really been hoping the title was being ironic, but it seems it isn't, which makes me sad.

hella jazzed about this
|
| |
can a band put extra emphasis on how much their music means to them without someone labeling them pretentious or is that just not possible?
|
| |
Can't wait to hear a new song about stinking it up in a Philly basement.
|
| |
not a fan of the album title

seems promising, hopefully they can deliver
|
| |
For some reason, there is no doubt in my mind that they will deliver on every ridiculous claim they made in that video. I heard someone say once that Suburbia was their Deja Entendu, so maybe this will be their Devil and God?
|
| |
pumped!!
|
| |
andcas be honest. If you had never heard of them before and saw this trailer, would you not find it pretentious?
|
| |
it's cool that they're so invested in their music, but really, wouldn't "we have a new album coming out" suffice?
Digging: Sabertooth Zombie - Midnight Venom
|
| |
Regardless of if andcas knew them or not, it's overwhelmingly ignorant to label them pretentious knowing what they've done in the past, are you saying they're not capable of delivering something that outstanding?
|
| |
This band better than The Story So Far? I think they might be.
|
| |
They're arguably better than TSSF, instrumentally they're on par with one-another, but lyrically TWY is better by a huge margin.
|
| |
I like TWY more
I love them both
but yeah TWY lyrics are just so far beyond other pop punk bands
|

Has andcas mentioned how nice they are yet? Saw bassist in sa try to kick a kid then threw a pick at him and flicked him off. Like a 15 yo kid. Andcas ignant twat
|
| |
So stoked for this

"andcas be honest. If you had never heard of them before and saw this trailer, would you not find it pretentious?"
if you want the epitome of pretentiousness then go look up geoff tate's narcissistic EPK video explaining how awesome his entire career and existence is to the world. I would never feel any negative impression from this video because the only vibe it gives off is this band is clearly very passionate about the music they make and have a humble message to deliver. I don't sense an ounce of self-importance or vanity here since it's quite obvious they're only goal is truly helping others instead of themselves.
"Has andcas mentioned how nice they are yet? Saw bassist in sa try to kick a kid then threw a pick at him and flicked him off. Like a 15 yo kid. Andcas ignant twat"
the kid must have done something worthy of that action because the only time I've seen him or soupy single out someone is when they're genuinely being an aggressive asshole to everyone else just trying to have fun. An example would be at one show where some kid stage dived then started punching people in the face while on top of the crowd so soupy stopped the song and hopped of stage to confront him by saying that if he wanted to pull that violent bullshit he could get the fuck out.
"it's cool that they're so invested in their music, but really, wouldn't "we have a new album coming out" suffice?"
there's nothing wrong with trying to make a statement that builds up hype for your album and when you're a band with the reputation they have it's almost expected that they would adhere to the aura they have surrounded them at this point.
|
| |
"can a band put extra emphasis on how much their music means to them without someone labeling them pretentious or is that just not possible?"
as someone who really liked this trailer, no. but it's only pretentious if they don't deliver.
|
| |
also let's not compare this to Devil and God, my expectations are already sky high and if this album is anything less than a 4.5 i will be kind of crushed.
|
| |
Tbh if i wanted music with some cliche pseudo intellectual analysis of life i would listen to folk-punk, not pop-punk #eliminatepoppunk
|
| |
This is so inspirational oh my jesus.
Digging: Deafheaven - Sunbather
|
| |
band is cool, album will be awesome, album trailers are stupid, thread is stupid
|
| |
The problem isn't that they're being arrogant or too excited by their own music. Theres nothing really wrong with most of the sentiments in that video, the problem is more the way the thing was edited. Classic art-student doco style, which is an irritating as fuck style.
|
| |
I enjoy The Wonder Years. More looking forward to the album (although it will more than likely be enjoyable) falling short of everyone's sky-high expectations and ripping a black hole in the heart of Sputnik.
