Nah. The transitions are good. It's quite cool. Proggy and sludgy...
Digging: Coliseum - Sister Faith

| |
super pumped, love the bass work!
|
| |
Sweet. Was a bit worried because of the intro but the song had some good progression, album should be sweet.
|
| |
no, its boring as fuck
i enjoy prehistoricisms, though
|
| |
No need to repeat yourself.
Also VoS > The Challenger > Prehistoricisms.
|
| |
yee
|
| |
not bad. not the biggest fan of these guys, though.
|
| |
Not bad, not bad at all. Not great either though.
Kind of on the fence atm about this next release.
Digging: Eluvium - Nightmare Ending

Song's good and it is something different with respect to past work.
Compared to Valley Of Smoke, the vocals are improved.
|
| |
I like it. Very groovy and sludgy. Have never really liked the vocals though.
|
| |
Seems a bit more dialed back...I am hoping for a few moments of crushing riffage on this new album though...

its not boring, its restrained. the intro was shaky but the rest is really good.
|
| |
that is a trippy album cover
|
| |
Thought it was the single cover?
|
| |
Doesn't sound as good as Valley Of Smoke
|
| |
Never listened to VoS. Never interested me. Prehistoricisms was solid, and they're fantastic live.
the bass makes this song
Digging: Queens of the Stone Age - ...Like Clockwork

Real good. Oh yeah.

"Toke up, and think about what a combination Mastodon-Pelican would actually look like."
good thing it doesn't sound like either of those bands lol
Digging: Portishead - Portishead

"are you fucking dumb wolf"
Gonna g-nocide you, nigguh.
|
| |
You better not make me use the valley of gas on your unhygienic gypsy opinion.
|
| |
prehistoricisms has heavy riffs
|
| |
Mein Reich has heavy gas.
|
| |
I can smell jews by a nebula galaxy and you ain't no jew. You're a filthy gypsy. Jews are clean and they have money.
|
| |
potsy u r a jew?
|
| |
nah, he's just being a dumbass or filthy lying gypsy.
|
| |
great song. would like to see some Sunderance or Cavernous Den type songs too, but this sets a great mood with killer bass work. consider this album reviewed.
|
| |
"jewish heritage" is the dumbest thing ever and I wouldn't have presumed you to fall victim to the slippery slope of this idiocy.
|
| |
the presumption of "jewish heritage" is incredibly offensive. it's also offensive to any person with half a brain.
Except that has exactly nothing to do with "jewish heritage", unless you believe in the same bogus biology the Nazis did.
|
| |
wtf is going on.
|
| |
this is getting good
-grabs popcorn-
|
| |
"filthy lying gypsy."
is there any other kind?
|
| |
Also VoS > .
NO.
Prehistoricisms > The Challenger > Shit > VoS
|
| |
lol oops
|
| |
seeing these guys live with AAL and Meshuggah in a month. SO stoked, gonna be trippin balls for the show.

Wow talk about being off topic...
|
| |
Yeah, I was a bit worried with the beginning but the song ended being pretty damn good.

How can you hate VOS that bad?
|
| |
to hell with hordes trollish impisms
|
| |
How can you hate VOS that bad?
It never grew on me at all. I couldn't get past the vocal change. Sure they were sort of monotonous on Prehistoricisms, but at least then they didn't detract from the music for me.
|
| |
hahahaha
|
| |
I preferred the bass work on VoS, but Prehistoricisms hit hard, which was awesome.
Vocals are good on this, I'll have to see. I know I was bummed out when I heard the Polyenso single, but I happen to actually adore the album as a whole. So that might be the case with this one as well.
Digging: William Basinski - The Disintegration Loops II
|
| |
Valley of Smoke and Prehistoricanisms both rule. gonna listen to this now.
|
| |
I enjoyed this alot, way more laid back and the last couple minutes were straight up chillin. Also prehistoricisms is a tad better than VOS imo.

Artwork is more interesting than the song...
Vocals are unchanged. Rhythms and structure feels like they've been done before.
|
| |
Yeh some of those rhythms feel like they've been done before. Sounded cool tho. Looking forward to seeing how this fits the album as a whole.
|
| |
Dunno how I feel about this.
|
| |
Nice chill song but Dann! What happened to the heaviness Intronaut?
|
| |
apt direction, but I gotta listen to the rest before I assume that it'll be boring
|
| |
This is awesome. I hope the album's production is better than the way the song sounds streamed; that might be why some of you are saying it's boring... or you just think the song itself is boring, but it's not - that's a non-arguable fact.
|
| |
Song is pretty awesome, I LOVED Valley Of Smoke.
|
| |
By the way guys, the heaviness is still there from Prehistoricisms; it's just more subtle. The grooves and jazzy key changes are perfect on this song. It reminds me of 'Australopithecus' at the end.
|
| |
Is that actually the album art? Wow...exceeds expectations
Song owns btw
|
| |
Judging from this song, Sputnik will rate this album 4.1/5.

Digging: The Dillinger Escape Plan - One of Us Is the Killer
|

Seein them feb. 20th. Will be soty. Cant wait to buy the album
|
| |
awesome song, that artwork tripped me out. this album is going to rule for sure.
oh, and VoS > Prehistoricisms > The Challenger. no question about it.
|
| |
Actually I have a question about it
|
| |
I find that VoS didn't do much to distinguish each of the songs from one another for me. But then again I also never worshiped Prehistoricisms. But to me this seems like a natural progression from their previous outing. Hopefully they add a bit more to the mix this time around.
|
| |
Song is pretty good. I would have to agree that this sounds like a natural progression in their sound. I'm glad they've kept Joe Lester so high in the mix and continue to use him a vital instrument in their sound. Vocally, though, I wish Sacha would go back to the scream he used pre-VoS. I don't think they Mastodon/Baroness-esque style works well for them. It wasn't all that bad in this song, but it was a major turn off on VoS.
Also, Null and Void>Prehistoricisms>VoS
