Control Denied record new album 2013-01-06 by Voivod STAFF | 60 Replies | 1847 Views |
The remaining members of Control Denied, the side project Chuck Schuldiner (R.I.P.) had formed near the dusk of the '90s, have finally gathered to complete work on their long awaited second album.
Control Denied had started working on the album back in 2000, under the working title Where Machine And Man Collide. However, Schuldiner's most unfortunate death due to cancer in 2001 and the legal battle between the Schuldiner family and Hammerheart Records, prevented the remaining members from completing and releasing the record.
The project had been on hold since early 2010. At that time, drummer Richard Christy had revealed in the Hellenic Metal Hammer that his drum tracks and Chuck's guitars were already recorded and that effort had been undertaken for the schedules of everybody involved in the project to align at some point in the future.
The current Control Denied lineup consists of Tim Aymar (vocals), Steve Di Giorgio (bass) and Shannon Hamm (guitars), whereas Tom Morris (of the acclaimed Morrisound Studios) is in charge of the production.

KILL should be happy, if he can get over the fact that this came out after 2002. But yeah great news regardless.
|
| |
I hope the chipmunk's vocals don't sound too terrible.

First album is excellent at least, I'm holding my horses for this one though.
Albums of bands with their basic composer absent tend to lack some quality.
|
| |
Richard Christy is drumming in this one.

@bloc
Imagine the music of the Symbolic album, passed through a prog/power filter.
|
| |
id say it sounds much more like tsop but yea basically
|
| |
Fuck yes. Should be awesome
Digging: The Beatles - Abbey Road

I mentioned Symbolic, because the lead guitar work in The Fragile Art Of Existence lies on the same level of excellence.
The Sound Of Perseverance sounds more brutal and less virtuosic to my ears.
|

@bloc
Imagine the music of the Symbolic album, passed through a prog/power filter.
Yeah, it certainly does sound like that. It's only been recently that I've started to listen to and enjoy 80's and 90's power metal so hopefully these guys are a winner for me.

That they were going to release this album is really, really old news, but thrilling nonetheless.

Why, because I don't suck the dick of a musician? I love hypocrites.

That they were going to release this album is really, really old news, but thrilling nonetheless.
Old news is the long term (since 2001) legal rivalry between the Schuldiner family and Hammerheart Records over royalties, the will of remaining members to get together and record the album is known since 2010, while the real news, namely the actual gathering of the lineup to record, took place a few days ago.
So, this is news, at least from where I'm standing.

Your article is titled "Control Denied record new album," but then doesn't say anything of which
you've noted above, and doesn't elaborate at all, so by just reading this post I get no new
information about the band. :-/
|
| |
The first three lines are the news, i.e. the band finally got together so as to complete recording of the new album.
The rest of the text goes back into time, for readers that are unaware of what happened in the past.

This seems like a money grab to me

This seems like a money grab to me
Because the band has been fighting to finish off Chuck's legacy for over ten years now and it's finally happening, must be a money grab. Because, you know, this is gonna top charts and sell billions of copies.
|
| |
lol has nothing to do with money. Especially considering the fact that most people will DL the album for free.
|
| |
I'm gonna pay for this so hard.
|
| |
Chuck's own mother said she wants this record to be finished. She's such a greedy bitch.
|
| |
I wasn't really all that into the first one either, but I'll stick check this out

no, because you have a gay taste in music
|

So excited for this, been waiting for too long! Even if this was a money grab it would be awesome, but it definitely isn't.
|

sweeeeeeet

should use the singer of Deathbringer
|
| |
Great news.
But Aymar vocals really turn me off, tbh. Let´s hope they´re better this time.
Digging: Sax - Moravské Ná?ez
|
| |
the vox are amazing
|
| |
^^^this.
I think they were buried by the sound production, which was a rather low budget one for the first Control Denied album.
I really want the new album to have a better sound overall.
|
| |
the vox are one of the greatest things about the band
i hope they didnt get old and rusty after so much years, but i really dont think they have
|
| |
Just showing that you can't kill Death. Can't wait for this.
|
| |
If you want a good taste of the singer check out his main band Pharaoh.

Huh. Didn't think this would actually happen.
Also,

Hated the singing on The Fragile Art of Existence for the most part.

the vocas are def the weakest link but who cares with fucking NEW chuck riffs
|
| |
Yeah, vocals are the weakest link, but they'd have to be fucking phenomenal to compete with the other guys seeing as how good musicians they are. Will still dig them.
|
| |
no, because you have a gay taste in music
Never knew hating on Chucks other band would get me to these depths. Fuck, I need to go re-evaluate my tastes in metal.
|
| |
fucking NEW chuck riffs [2]
not really new though, but new to our earz.
