Digging: Sabertooth Zombie - Midnight Venom

you have to think of birds while listening to it

well yeah I'm going to, I just don't get it, does that link work for everyone else?
|
| |
yeah there's a player there
|
| |
wow, loved it, hitting repeat right now. This 7" is gonna be so frustrating because I will want more songs in this style. Hopefully they're close to starting work on a follow-up LP.
|
| |
This is pretty good. I'm loving the vocals
|
| |
"yeah there's a player there"
well I've tried loading the page like ten times and still nothing, weird. whatever, it's on youtube.
|
| |
Wow Kyle can actually sing, love this
|
| |
wow this fucking rules

you have to think of birds while listening to it
this

awesome
|

if they keep up with this style and level of execution, I could see a 5/5 record in their future. I was dangerously close to 5ing The Lack Long After, and this song would have been a top-tier track if it was on that LP.
|
| |
filial still kills any other song they've done, dat whimsical feel
|

I'll Get By >
|
| |
It's a hell of a thing
|
| |
i like the abstract lyrics on old pride way better
|
| |
the sky is blue
why am I so sad!
|
| |
Yeah I really want more stuff like this on their next LP.
|
| |
it's a good song but kind of disappointing compared to their last album which was a 4.5 for me. his voice sounds really annoying in certain parts too (like the ending where he sounds like he's forcing a redneck accent for whatever reason), which is strange because normally i love this band's vocals.
Digging: Deafheaven - Sunbather
|
| |
hot damn that was good holy shit
|
| |
"i like the abstract lyrics on old pride way better"
i agree to an extent, but that's just because a prefer abstract lyrics in general to ones that just spell out exactly what the singer is trying to say. i think most of the lyrics are still really well written on TLLA though, just sometimes they get too specifically about his dad and it takes me out of the song a little bit because obviously i can't relate to his exact situation. i like lyrics that are a little more open to interpretation personally.

|
| |
i'll get by is their best song and it's really not close
|
| |
it's pretty good.

vibrato seems a little forced at times, but overall i love this direction.
|
| |
sounds like a mix between oberst, lacey, and kensrue.
|
| |
Sounds pretty damn good
|
| |
auber - I'm surprised, I didn't get that from the vocals at all. ah well, different strokes. I think this is easily one of their best songs.
|
| |
I'm conflicted. LLA will always be one of my favourite albums though.

sounds exciting
|
| |
his cleans sound like they're vibrating lol
|
| |
^ ...vibrato..?
Song rules. Thank God for this music.
|
| |
How does someone who frequents a music site not know what vibrato is my word
|
| |
Awful band. I'll listen to this when im feeling suicidal.
Digging: Soap and Skin - Sugarbread

blaspheme.
|
| |
I like this.
Digging: The National - Trouble Will Find Me
|
| |
that was rather boring
Digging: Shizuka - Traditional Aesthetics
|
| |
still more exciting than gasol's defense though
|
| |
Touche Amore was probably like: "Damn I don't think the same old minute-and-a-half song is gonna work this time..." after hearing this.
|
| |
This is phenomenal. I hope they use the clean vocals a little more often, they're really nice sounding with their style... plus they're equally as emotional as the screams.
Digging: William Basinski - The Disintegration Loops II
|
| |
i have a feeling the touche song will be better tho
|
| |
Sounds great.
|
| |
his cleans sound like they're vibrating lol
nOoOoO WayYyYyYy
|
| |
Instrumentally that was amazing. The clean vocals were nice for a bit but the excessive vibrato was just awful and the clean vox over stayed their welcome fast.
|
| |
I love guitar work like this.
|
| |

ohmygod I love your avatar.
|
| |
I couldn't help but have it. It's perfect.
|
| |
He sounds like Oberst with his cleans
|
| |
"sounds like a mix between oberst, lacey, and kensrue."
orbest yes, dunno about kensrue tho.

|

Pretty good song.
|
| |
This is gold. Band just gets better and better with every release.
|
| |
Awesome song
|
| |
"his cleans sound like they're vibrating lol"
lots of vocalists do that, especially the best ones
song's boring though
edit: ok it gets better towards the end
Digging: Still Corners - Strange Pleasures

pretty unmemorable tbh
|
| |
This isn't bad but didn't really do much for me
|
| |
Really cool. If they mixed tracks like this in with heavier ones on the next LP, it would make me very happy
|
| |
He used WAY too much vibrato on his voice for me.
Digging: Stars - Set Yourself On Fire
|
| |
sounds great, awesome singing there.
Digging: The Dillinger Escape Plan - One of Us Is the Killer

Song was alright. Love this band though

Their next release will be an acoustic emo EP.

I think I'm the only one who didn't enjoy the clean vocals?
Not bad though, last album was fantastic.
|
| |
Anyone else here slight Brandon Flowers influence in his vocals? I feel like parts of his vocals here remind me of "When You Were Young".
|
| |
take that back
|
| |
yeah man. brandon flowers singes circles around this guy.
|
| |
"the sky is blue
why am I so sad!"
lol'd hard. This was fucking awesome, I really hope they do more songs like this.
|
| |
this band is so fucking good
|
| |
one of their best songs. hope they write an entire album with this style.
|
| |
Oh man I love this.
|
| |
brutally awesome. didnt think they would rise this high without losing themselves. LET ME GET DAT
|
| |
I can dig it...
Digging: The Dillinger Escape Plan - One of Us Is the Killer

i find the song and his voice rather emotionless compared to previous tracks
|
| |
surprisingly awesome
|
| |
so good.
|
| |
surprisingly?
|
| |
I think it's indisputable that their best song is "Houses We Die In."
|
| |
fantastic.
Digging: Godspeed You! Black Emperor - F#A# (Infinity)

Had never actually listened to these guys yet. Really cool tune. I'm now going to listen to their catalog in reverse chronological order.

The entirety of Old Pride is better than Houses We Die In, so no.
