Autechre Announce New LP 2012-12-14 by Deviant STAFF | 42 Replies | 1596 Views |
Long-standing electronic duo, and Warp label mainstays Autechre, will release their new LP, Exai on March 4th.
The album, their first batch of new material since 2010's Oversteps comes in the wake of an extensive period of re-released material for both Rob Brown and Sean Booth, the culmination of which gave us both their recent EPs 1991 – 2002 compilation and the re-pressing of their debut under the alias of Lego Feet.
Exai will be available in both double CD format, and as a 4-LP vinyl and will reportedly clock in at a staggering 2 hours. Here's the official word from Warp themselves:
Deluxe Vinyl Edition
4 x heavyweight 180gram vinyl, each disc packed in its own printed inner sleeve.
Housed in a rigid slipcase wrapped in Cairn Eco Kraft stock with clear foil block to front.
Includes Download code redeemable at Bleep.com
CD Edition

Meh, don't know how I feel about that. Oversteps is the least interesting LP they've put out. Still, infinitely pumped for this.

Considering how difficult it is to procress 50 minutes of Autechre material, it's going to be insane
to take in 2 hours of it.

"Have you heard Quaristice.Quadrange.ep.ae?. That's pretty comfortable at 2 1/2 hours"
Mhm, great collection. Don't really mean comfortable, just that there's so many subtleties and intricacies to what they do, it's difficult to process it all.

It all just depends what kind of sound they're going to be dealing in with this release. Their later stuff? Then yeah, I definitely agree. But if it's more spaced out like their earlier stuff (and like what Oversteps kind of hinted at) then there shouldn't be any problems - except finding 2 hours to be able to listen to the whole thing in one sitting
|
| |
with so many wubs to wub where does one find the time?
|
| |
iNTRiKet thinking right there

niiiiice. will no doubt rule

Yup. If we're going by cover art, it'll be an 8-bit rehaul of Tri Repetae.
