it seems like all of their songs have to do, in one way or another, with someone getting raped
| |
Wow that was one of the angriest songs I've ever heard without a doubt
| |
That was pretty bad. The change in style isn't that great.
| |
Yeah, I think the singer's dad was real fucked up, so that's why, but I think I've had enough of songs about it. I hope the whole album isn't like that cause I think these guys are pretty good.
| |
sounds like chelsea grin or some shit
| |
"this is by far the best hardcore song I have ever heard. So much structure, so much anger, so much perfection. This is amazing, this is flawless. Landon Tewers is a musical genus. Best band on Rise, and best hardcore band period."
uh
| |
@rosa, yeah the production sucked hard. I don't know why, especially since it was uploaded by rise, I see no reason for that.

"best hardcore band period"
| |
Lyrics suck so hard.
| |
The whole album is gonna have this feel. I actually like it
| |
2nd link has better production though
| |
i actually thought first born was pretty cool, but idk if im liking this new sound
| |
Got a soft spot for these dudes. Liked the song it has a lot of emotion.
| |
This band's 'music' is fucking trash.
| |
I still wanna hear the Austin Carlile diss song.
| |
i bet this is bad
| |
Kinda bland.
| |
Kinda gay.
| |
why the fuck do shitty metalcore bands still think overproduced clean choruses are a good idea
| |
because shitty metalcore fans still sing along
| |
I'm getting kind of annoyed at the constant spewing about the dude's dad or whatever.
We get it, the guy fucked you up, but maybe try writing about something different if you're even capable..
| |
Why can't they be more like The Color Morale...
| |
"why the fuck do shitty metalcore bands still think overproduced clean choruses are a good idea"
because the shitty fanbase still loves them
| |
This has nothing to do with his dad nor did any of their other songs
| |
gosh darn that song was pre-diddly-ictable
| |
agreediddly
| |
Whatever it's about, it all has to do with his family life or somebody's family life. Shit's annoying.
| |
Yeah The Poison is such a more meaningful album...
| |
Well, that was bad.
| |
At least BFMV talks about shit other than how bad their childhood sucked.
| |
Not that it matters, but none of their songs are personally about the band
| |
I would just enjoy a little more diversity in the lyrics.
| |
songs good. i think the album will be on par with first born though
| |
Wow, this is terrible.
| |
This sucks, I think they're better than this, because every band in the world is better than this.
| |
Don't care, CoC's new EP shits all over anything they've made or a lot of bands on Rise for that matter. Then again Sumerian
isn't making good choices lately either.
| |
Well that was pretty creepy......
| |
Wow, nice album title...NOT
| |
first born was kinda alright. this kinda sucks.
| |
the vocals were the only thing i really liked about first born. might have to get used to it. saw em once with a plea for purging few years back, and they were pretty good. they need to stop trying to over do it though.
| |
heard this was about the guy who raped the singer's ex-girlfriend. i think he's slightly mad.
| |
i can just understand why this is over-the-top pissed off now. like The Acacia Strain pissed.
| |
How are they "overdoing" it now? All of this bands material has always been pissed off like this
| |
Not impressed that chorus is awful. I was expecting more
Riffs
| |
"why the fuck do shitty metalcore bands still think overproduced clean choruses are a good idea"
Not overproduced ones, but cleans in general provide variety to the song. One of my biggest problems with this song was there weren't enough cleans; it gets repetitive hearing a same-range scream for the entire song. And this guy can sing pretty decent, so the overproduction shouldn't be a problem
| |
there are some weird noices in there I can't explain
| |
Not gonna lie. Digging this. First Born was pretty enjoyable in my opinion, generic or not. This sounds like a step-up.
| |
Well that was kinda stupid. How the fuck is this "hardcore".
| |
I really dug First Born. I do miss the old vocals a bit but I'm still pretty excited about this album. Song is good but hoping there are more memorable ones.
| |
this is really really bad
| |
I didn't think this was too bad.
| |
I didn't enjoy it at all, I probably would've 5 years ago, though.
| |
Fixed link, the second link is the exact same one, so idk how the quality is better lol.
I didn't like it the first time around, listened to it again and I like it a little bit.
| |
I listen to very little metalcore these days and this is just one of the shitty rise bands that I still enjoy for some reason. Landon and Cole are cool dudes too never met the rest of them
| |
I've always had a soft spot for these guys, even with the clean parts, but I feel like this new record should have less of that, since it's supposed to be so pissed off.
| |
No surprise there..
| |
The old vocals were over produced these vocals are more of his live sound... also song is meh
| |
Does anyone know if this album will go along with the concept of First Born?
| |
It won't this has nothing to do with first born
| |
well if the concept is still being pissed at stuff than yeah
| |
"pretty boring. maybe it's youtube, but that production is some of the worst i have heard in awhile"
If we trace back to the album "The Anti-Mother" by Norma Jean they took a significantly different approach to the recording process then past albums. The album was produced in a studio of one of the members house. The concept was to make the album old, grungy and pseudo-dustic. To sacrifice some technological advancements in audio and production made up for the overall emotion of the album, which leaves most listeners with a ghastly-type feeling of uncomfort. In conclusion a great album. That is what Landon [singer/producer] was trying to aim for in this album. He sacrifices much audio technologies to give the album a more mystic, dark, raspy approach. With that said, a lot of his albums have been recorded in a garage with limited sound foam padding.
"I'm getting kind of annoyed at the constant spewing about the dude's dad or whatever.
We get it, the guy fucked you up, but maybe try writing about something different if you're even capable.."
Since this is only a single, we cannot make the assumption that the album is still about his dad. Such like Coheed and Cambria, their albums were in chronological order of events, in which Claudio tells stories. It might be leaving off where First Born ends.
Landon has also written many things other than just his "dad" for instance off the top of my head:
- From Atlantis, helped record and write.
- "The Stretching Girl" by Landon Tewers [http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-oeH1L1U9M8]
I think the overall music scene is changing within Rise and Sumerian Records. Chugs were much favourable in the early development of this genre (genre this, genre that, it's deathcore/hardcore/metalcore, all relevant). As Blood Runs Black, Bring Me the Horizon, all had chugs, now it's difficult to listen to bands with these without being considered dated.
Unfortunately, not much to say about the lyrics, it's on par with other lyrics. Chance of progression is limited but not obsolete in this album. Cleans have drastically improved. However, this is what it "marketable" in this genre so repetition of clean vocals is here to stay.

| |
shut up
| |
u mad bro?
| |
oh he's reeeeel mad
| |
