Avenged Sevenfold Album Info
2012-12-02 by ASnideRemark | 198 Replies | 5296 Views

Hard Rock band Avenged Sevenfold have recently revealed in an interview with Metalhammer multiple new pieces of information about their upcoming sixth studio album, which will be their first album with their new drummer Arin Llejay.

They've revealed several key pieces of information about the album, such as the style, how much they've completed on it and where they intend to go once it's complete.

Where they are in terms of album completion:

That’s a hard question to answer because songs come and go. There’s about six songs, whole song ideas that I’m 100% happy with. - M. Shadows

Where the album is going direction wise:

Ya know, the song we did, like I said, back in July. We’ve been working on the album since September, and this isn’t a dig at the direction of that song or anything, but I want people to understand that even if they like that song or if they don’t like it or whatever, the album is a completely different entity. We’re working in a direction that I really feel confident with. I wanna write a classic metal record. - M. Shadows

Along with this, they talked about how Arin Llejay is adjusting to being an official member of Avenged Sevenfold, along with what they are doing to help him understand where they came from, their influences and how he can help contribute further to the band which now calls him family.

A 2/5 is being quite generous for an A7X record after the one who wrote everything semi-decent is dead. Doesn't mean the fans aren't gonna be hyping it as the best thing ever though. Ugh.

I've never understood why some people just dump on others for their taste in metal, or call something utter trash and think their opinion is the only one that matters. Not saying that happened here, but I see it quite frequently.
I think we should be more banded together and respect eachothers taste in hard rock/metal, after all, metalheads are the minority im sure, as most I know at least listen to mostly rap/techno/dubstep etc. If I meet someone for the first time, we end up discussing music and they happen to like metal, but listen to alot of stuff i dont particularily enjoy, I dont dump on him. Everyone has their own taste and should be respected!

I could understand making Nightmare, but c'mon.
I'm not even a fan of the band, but if they're going to make music they should do it without the Avenged Sevenfold name, especially considering that The Rev took such a big part in writing before his death.

> "help him understand where they came from"

the prominence of the "family" thing is mildly creepy, and their fans do the same thing. like I get that you all feel the togetherness, but...yeah. having seen their behind-the-scenes DVD (required viewing with my ex) they all seem somewhat out of touch with reality.

still, Gates has chops on the guitar, and they at least try to sound different than the masses (with mixed results). band has seen better days though.

they consider themselves not just members but brothers.

I don't really see how this is creepy, no matter what band it is. After being on the road together for a few years, I would imagine they'd be pretty tight.

I don't have anything against the band calling themselves a family. it's the way that the fanbase treats them, how getting a deathbat tattoo is like being brought into a cult ("family").

or maybe it's just that I was creeped out by my ex and I associate that with the band. probably the last one. there's a chance this will be good -- nightmare had some quality moments, after all.

that's the one I was mixed on. I respect that they worked from guys working two jobs in long beach to where they are, and that Synyster actually knows what he's doing and tries to keep ahead of the curve. Jimmy was also an excellent musician. but there were some parts, like adopting their stage names (and how they came up with them -- Johnny Christ to piss people off? =\) that I was turned off by. I mean I guess I can't be too critical of their immature moments (my favorite band calls their van the Fart Box) since they definitely got most things right to be where they are.

So by "classic record", do they mean a metal record with classic rock influences like City of Evil? Or do they mean "classic metal" as in some kind of NWOBHM-type thing like Iron Maiden or Judas Priest?

or did they just mean "classic" as in "fucking amazing that will be remembered throughout centuries"?

Either way, I think this will be good so long as the record doesn't consist of 10 Carry On-type songs

there are plenty of bands throughout musical history who have worn makeup
on their face so it'd be pretty hypocritical to cherry pick who you're gonna
make fun of for it based purely on if you like them or not

Just gonna say you did make it seem like the main reason that you wouldn't go was because "I wouldn't waste my time seeing a bunch of fags with eyeliner sorry doesn't sound like my idea of a good time". I know this whole thing is over but you held a major prejudice against the eyeliner.

Dimebag once played a show in a pair of Marilyn Manson's girl boots because why the hell not. It
didn't matter what you wore, what mattered was the music you were making. Whatever though, these guys
stopped using eyeliner since 2007.

Haven't cared for anything from these guys since Waking the Fallen, which is a decade ago. Time to call it quits. I feel like A7X and C&C are just going through the motions at this point, offering nothing new or challenging.
