Maker In Severe Van Accident
2012-12-01 by Andrew Caswell | 80 Replies | 1735 Views

Pop punk band Maker has been involved in a serious vehicular
crash this morning as they were driving through Texas. The
members have released an official statement letting fans
know that their van flipped over just outside of Dallas.

Unfortunately a few of the passengers are banged up with one
in critical condition and the ride is completely totaled. They're
attempting to raise money to help pay hospital bills from this
horrible event so any donations are greatly appreciated.

Here's where you can send paypal assistance to those in need: makerdonations@gmail.com

well when you get in an accident, damage being caused is generally a given.

This is seriously the worst thing that could happen to a band. Hoping that they get better and can salvage some funds.

This was on their way to Dallas, the only one who wasn't in the hospital was the backup singer/guitarist and he played an acoustic set alone at their show last night

Putting the provocative stuff aside for the moment :-

These guys were born in a country where they have lots of choices, they made their choices. They want to earn a living from making music and accepted the risk that they can't make enough money for things like health insurance at least for some while (or maybe they could afford it but didnt bother, who knows). They've had some bad luck and in the detached humanitarian way that I feel for anyone in trouble I hope things work out. But to some extent their current situation is of their own making due to the choices they made.

Now they are asking people to donate money. Let's imagine I had 50 dollars and wanted to donate to a good cause. Even if I was a huge fan of the band I would not give it to them I would donate to a charity for disadvantaged people who never had the chance to make the choices they did. It would be a worthier cause in my estimation.

Who says the $ you're donating is going to that anyway?

I mean, you're logic is flawed, anyway. You could say that the people you're helping out when you donate to charity could just make better decisions with their lives.

Not if you pick the right charity that helps people who cannot get out of the poverty they are born into. I don't think it's a bad thing to choose the charities you support carefully.

"are you serious ?

Do you know enough about the members of this band to assume that they're using this as a ruse to get extra cash?

Do you know enough about the members of this band to make a claim that they have no other way out of where they live?

Now, I'm not saying that any members of this band have it as bad as a starving child in Africa nor Asia, but I'm just posing these questions to make you see how dumb your stance is.

I mean, every band struggles at some point, and some bands struggle their whole existence(that's why most end up splitting up after a year or two).

These guys had something unfortunate happen to them, WHICH WASN'T THEIR CHOICE. I know plenty of people who have had horrible things happen to them that weren't their choice who need help.

"Well they can afford to buy musical equipment and go on the

I can tell you know absolutely nothing about being in a touring band. I've been on the road before where everyone put
everything they had into their instruments and to make tours happen and half the time we barely had enough money to
eat because we had to spend our guarantee on gas just to get to the next venue and were lucky if someone let us sleep
on their floor instead of our van. touring life is hard and bands bust their ass to get their music out there so someday
they have it as good as others who take the shit for granted.

I can't imagine being in their situation because if I was at the time we'd all be fucked on finances. you're bringing up
this charity nonsense when it literally has no place in this thread. if fans want to donate to these guys to help them out
of the predicament they're in then that's awesome because what happened sucks. you say think about unfortunate
people and yet treat these guys as if they're not even human or matter to anyone and your negativity is just not needed.
