Empire! Empire! guitar injustice

Emo band Empire! Empire! (I Was A Lonely Estate) have recently run into a spot of bad luck concerning guitars and airlines. A Gibson Les Paul Custom was broken on a flight to England via American Airways, and the band paid to have the guitar professionally fixed while staying in England.
Unfortunately, the trouble only got worse. After flying back to the US, again via American Airways, they found the exact same guitar broken once again, and have begun to rally their fans to demand some form of compensation from the airline, who believe they are not liable.

American Airlines broke my Gibson Les Paul Custom guitar AGAIN on the way back from England, despite it being in a flight case. For those of you who don't know, that's ONCE on the way to England where I get it professionally repaired, and then AGAIN on the way back. I spoke to a customer representative, and they denied any responsibility, despite photographic evidence and proof. AMERICAN AIRLINES DOES NOT CARE ABOUT THEIR CUSTOMERS. I am not giving up, I want a new guitar and I need your help.

have any of you transported a guitar on an airline? its your responsibility to ensure your guitar is packed to withstand rough handling. the possibility of equipment breaking is a risk you take bitch. bubble wrap jammed into any possible space is your best friend

After watching dudes handle luggage for the airlines, I'm not surprised that the guitar broke. They toss bags like they are trying to set an Olympic record.
He won't get his money back, it's up to the customer to sufficiently package their belongings. It's called bubble wrap, braj.

he said it was packed properly in a flight case marked fragile, with the strings detuned. i mean one time might just be bad luck, but twice in a row is pretty ridiculous.
