Matt and Toby - the side-project of Matt Carter & Toby Morrell from post-hardcore band Emery - have posted the video for their new song 'Life of the Party'.

The track is the lead single to be taken from the duo's self-titled debut LP, which is scheduled for release on November-19.

I'll say it again now: they're pretentious.
And one of the two dislikes is mine.
And I rated I'm Only A Man a 4.5.

Normally I'd overlook the title as being from some corny folk duo but the names looked familiar and boom, they were from my boys in Emery.

Unfortunately, the song is pretty boring but the video is fun I guess. Also, am I the only one thinking the two guys look kinda really old now?

Toby looks way older. It's probably because he got a big haircut.

I really liked this. I hope the rest of the album is this catchy.

They were not really that young to begin with or at least that was the impression I was under a million years ago.

Perhaps you have a point. Tbh, I don't "look" at the band as often as I "listen" to then, you know? Their songs always have a youthful vibe to them. Hell, even this one does.

Yeah, Emery has always sounded youthful.

Their next album is supposedly going to be even heavier than their latest. Lots of people will probably dislike that, but I'm excited. Hopefully they'll get the acoustic stuff out of their system with this project.

It's not so much the quality of the song that impresses, but rather the fact that they decided to strip down their music so much. I am a HUGE fan of Emery's first album and I miss the vocal harmonies between Toby Morrell and Devin Shelton, but those days are over and they've moved on. They're all doing well enough. This project is really getting me excited! Can't wait for the album to drop.

Toby's always looked rather old. Don't care... Man can sing.

Would like to hear this song in the context of an album. Seems fine by itself, but unsure I could take too much of the style.

I agree. Suffice it to say, I'm expecting way more from the next Emery album.

No-one should be compared to Emery... Even half of Emery!

Well, they said that this side project is basically Emery on their slower side because Matt&Toby are
getting too old for the little Hardcore parts that Emery has. Or put nicer, they like this acoustic
shizzle more. So you may compare them to Emery.

They've said themselves, though, that Emery is only going to get heavier. I surely hope they aren't getting tired of it, or else they won't have a very fun time for the next time! ;]

If you don't like what you do how can it be good? Maybe this side project is actually a good idea and indirect motivation to keep going with Emery.

So stoked for this. Anything that has to do with Emery is pretty much amazing.
