Black Sabbath new album details

2012-10-18 by Voivod STAFF | 66 Comments
Black Sabbath are steadily concluding work for their new album, their first since 1995.

Ozzy Osbourne has recently entered the Shangri La studios in Malibu along with producer Rick Rubin, in order to record vocals.

Tony Iommi has recorded his guitar tracks earlier this year, whereas it remains unknown whether the drum and the bass tracks have been already recorded.

15 songs have been written, out of which twelve will finally make it to the album, while the rest will be used as bonus tracks. Geezer Butler is responsible for all the lyrics.

Up to now, the only confirmed song title is "God is Dead".

I think Rick Rubin, best case scenario, will work his "magic" (or lack therof, depending on the band & album), will help
inspire them but ended up compressing the shit out of their music anyways.

Worst case scenario is he'll suggest bringing in back Ice-T for a mediocre rap/metal song a'la Forbidden (fuck that
album), compress the shit out of the album & then force them to feature Muse in the linear notes for using some sort of
shitty sample in the background.

But I guess as long as Vinny Aprice doesn't end up being the replacement for Bill Ward on the album, I'll give it a shot;
they should aim for hiring someone who plays like Ward, at least. Reunion proved they still have the capability to play
(but not really the inspiration to create, as the two mediocre made for Reunion songs proved), at least, back in the 90's.

Yeah. The new tracks on the Dio Years compilation and The Devil You Know should've proven that Iommi's still capable of churning out two thousand pound riffs.

Pretty much every big band ever does this, not just the grandpa ones.

I read Iommi's autobiography recently and he says he's got years worth of riffs he's waiting to unleash so high hopes for that part. Ozzy's vox not so much.
